Are you going Straight to surgery prior to any chemo treatments?

Presume you are in hospital now? If so you will be prescribed many levels of pain relief according to your need... probably not a good idea to mix all 3 standard pain relief medications at once, but I think you can alternate... do check first!

After surgery you may find you have direct pain relief into the wound area for awhile which you can control with a click of a button.. ask about this.

Sounds like you could do with a bit more information. Between the doctors, nurses and ladies on this forum you will find plenty of help through this difficult stage.

Hope you come through it relatively pain and discomfort free...

Let us know how you get on and welcome to this amazing forum!

Best wishes. Janet 🌈

Thank you Janet, I am not in hospital as yet, I have been pencilled in for surgery on the 16th of July, at the moment I am taking paracetamol and ibuprofen I will update when I have surgery, so glad to have found this forum.

Hi Carrieann,

Welcome to the forum! I presume you mean after your surgery?

The one I found the best was Oxycodone. It is a strong morphine-like drug, very good. Paracetamol is good if taken regularly. Codeine is good, but does cause constipation (not good!). I had Tramadol, quite strong, and did NOT like it! (Hallucinations!). If you take Ibuprofen (a good drug & an anti- inflammatory), you should always take a ‘stomach protector’, like Omeprazole. Remember your GP can help you a lot. Mine did, when I got home. Best wishes, Linda xoxo

Hi, I had no symptoms or discomfort at all prior to surgery so can’t really help you there. If you mean post surgery then I was very lucky. Had a spinal anaesthetic (together with a general obviously) which I am sure they said wore off approx within 24 hours. I spent two days in hospital where I had paracetamol four times a day and the same when I came home. Only needed to take that dose for about a week and have managed on nothing since. Surgery was three weeks ago. It wasn’t nearly as bad as I had built it up to be. Good luck with your surgery. Xx

Norco worked well for me, but have to watch aspirin products, bleeding issues. I'd say only take what doctor allows prior to surgery and after. Hopefully your surgery will be very soon. You'll feel better afterwards. Less pressure. My pain after wasn't bad mostly just when getting out of bed from large incision site. Definitely doable. My energy levels improved immediately after surgery. Best wishes for fast relief. ❤❤Liz

Paracetamol and Ibuprofen are frequently used together and should really help if you take the maximum dose of each one. This is a very hard time for you , waiting is awful. But I personally found that when my monster was taken I felt so so much better.

Good luck with the operation and do let us know how you get on.

Lové n hugs to you xxx
