I fell on the ice and required a total hip replacement. My husband has just finished chemo for advanced prostate cancer and now I have peritoneal recurrence . I am Grade 3C PPC ; diagnosed in Oct 2015 so I am grateful for a good quality of life for almost 2 years post chemo. I am starting single agent Carboplatin tomorrow every 4 weeks. I am feeling very down hearted at the moment but , like Tesla, I am determined to tackle my treatment . I have so much to live for.

Marylondon, I'm on carbo/caelyx for 1st reoccurrence. Only had one treatment so far. Iced my hands and feet. No side effects yet. Still have all my hair. So far so good! You can do this! 😊
So sorry to read of your rotten news, Mary. Such bad luck that you should both have cancer - let alone you having a fall and needing a hip replacement!! Do hope things look better for you soon. Sending good wishes for a healthier time to you both. With love and a hug, Solange 😊
Oh dear, I just sent you a reply, Mary, but I can't see it here so I'll do another one. Hope two don't turn up together.
I saw my Onco just after we arrived home, as planned, and she thinks it's probably time to try more Chemo. I do, too as I'm having more pain and have more lumps. My Ca 125, which is never very high, has gone higher again. I had CT Scan last Friday and hope to get the result when I see my Onco again next week. It seems a long time to wait so I do hope it will have been reported on and discussed at the MD Team Meeting.
Hope this cold, wet weather isn't getting you down. Love Solange. Xx
Yes - having to wait for the MDT discussion does delay things . Hope you find out the plan soon . I greatly admire your attitude ; after all you have been through in over 10 years. I’m not do down now I ve started chemo yesterday & keep looking at all the beautiful blossom everywhere . X
Hope it doesn't make you feel too poorly. It's such bad luck that your husband finishes his Chemo - and you have to start!! Fingers crossed for a good result? Xx😊
Just want to wish you all the best for your treatment starting again Mary. I hope your husband is also making good progress. You’ve both had a rough time 😐 but let’s hope the summer brings successful treatment & brighter days for you both 🌷🌸 🌺
Wishing for you to breeze through treatment. It does make one feel down but I think once you get started, the "uplifting" will start. I found every four weeks (Carbo/Caelyx) was easier than Frontline every week. Gives you more time to enjoy (the in between times).
Thank you for your encouraging words. I started Carboplatin yesterday . They are keeping Caelyx in reserve for now as I had such a good response before to Carboplatin but am keen to have it . 😊
I wish you well on your treatment, I may also be having Carbo too yet to be confirmed next week. It is disheartening to have a recurrence but we wont let this get the better of us
A recurrence is totally gutting but you can do this! I'm now 3 years on from finishing chemo for my first and only recurrence. Ca125 is on the March upwards but I've had a good break!
Hi, You have indeed had a hard year. plus the added worry of your husband I hope he is doing well now. Stay positive and all the best for your treatment..take care Lorraine xx
Sorry I have taken so long to reply to your good wishes as I start 2nd line Carboplatin. My husband is much better thank you & PSA finally normal . I want to say that you give us all much hope with your determination in ongoing treatment. Not been at all easy for you but a lovely family & grandchildren are great motivation. Wishing you a very good response to Carbo/Caelyx .
Hope you’ve fully recovered from the hip replacement, what rotten luck. I hope the side effects for you both are few. Two years is a long break and you’ve done this before, you can do it again.
When the going gets tough the tough get going and with your year you are going to be one tough cookie.
Good luck with it all and beware the dreaded constipation with carboplatin. Being prepared before your treatment I found to work for me. Good luck Gina xx
