Starting to panic, Ca125 up again another 343 since chemo ended 10 weeks ago and scan booked for Tuesday, results will be the 30th.
Started Olaparib 8 weeks ago after finishing third line of Gemzar / carbo. In the last two weeks I've really started to experience a lot of acid, bloating, pain in tummy, under ribs and back. I've read a lot that this can be the side effects of Olaparib, so I went to the docs who prescribed Gaviscon advance to relieve the acid but still struggling!!
is this normal for Olaparib users or am I right to be a bit panicked that the bugger is back so soon? Not feeling great at all to be fair..

Hi Emalou. You should get checked out but I find with Olaparib I have Gaviscon on repeat prescription. Hopefully ( if thats the right term lol) you will figure out what sets yr tummy off. mine tends to be rich foods, chocolate, onions, peppers, anything too spicy tbh. Good luck xx
Hi Emalou,I'm on Olaparib over 2 years and yes all those symptoms you describe are part of my normal day.😀My CA125 has been rising slowly over the past year, all my scans have been clear. The pain in the ribs and back has been severe at times but,I take strong pain killers for it.The tummy and pelvic pain ,I was told is due to bowels not working properly,(it can happen on Olaparib), so I make sure I take Movicol and senokot daily, which helps with the reflux and bloating.xx
I'm glad the scans remain clear for you & I hope they stay that way for a long while yet!
Thank you for the molvical advice I don't feel I have a bowel issue but saying that I am on a low res diet and am pretty hit and miss lately. I do have molviciol in, so will give it a go, feeling very apprehensive that it's more than side effects as feel so very bloated and uncomfortable. Thank you for the advice xxx
I am in so much pain. I can not sleep on my back or right side. I have pain under my rib on my right side and back, and my right shoulder. I'm told there is no reason that they know of for my pain. I am ok if I am up and walking or working etc. If I lay down or sit the pain get terrible. I am self-medicating with painkiller or sleeping pill to get some rest at night. I have been on Olaparib for over a year. No one addresses my pain because they don't see a reason for it. I did well on Olaparib except for extreme weakness. It stopped working two months ago. So far, I have been on nothing else but have to go back to chemo soon. I had not heard about others with this pain before. Thank you for your post and hope you get help for your pain and discomfort. Praying for new treatments and a cure for all.
Oh dear that sounds terrible you poor thing, I've been suffering with aches and pains fro the past few weeks and it's very uncomfortable and taking neurofen to help. I have my scan today so I'll soon find out what it is..
I'm glad you have had a year off chemo, I've read lots of litreture on Olaparib and the pain you mention is documented but I wonder if it's something we end up coping with because the meds are keeping the beast at bay, saying that, if that is the case for me I may have to seek additional pain relief as it's quite tiring being this uncomfortable especially as I try to work.
