Well I have had an exciting couple of weeks! Went to see Sarah Millican in Bristol who was hilarious and loads of fun then a brilliant mother’s day surprise from my daughter who took me to Birmingham on Wednesday to see Sam Smith in concert. What a fantastic performance from one so young! Tuesday I am off to Venice for a short break with my best friend and will no doubt come back exhausted but exhilarated! Despite my stage 4 diagnosis in 2015 and chemo related fatigue I am still getting out and about and enjoying life to the (mostly) full!
Any recommendations of where to eat in Venice would be gratefully received as we intend to have a gastronomic adventure!!
Onward and upward!
Jane xx

Sounds amazing, love Sam Smith, love Venice, can’t recommend an eating venue, but I’m sure you will get some recommendations. I just go for it too, no matter your diagnosis, we all have a sell by date and I love your zest for life, no looking back and no what ifs.
Hi,Jane have a great time in Venice,we went to Italy just before i was diagnosed my husband is Italian, loved the country hope to go back one day So enjoy ,take care Lorraine xx
I do hope you get to go back as it is such a lovely country! I had a wonderful couple of weeks around the Amalfi coast a few years ago and have briefly visited Rome and Pisa so will be my first time in Venice!! Xx
Hi L A - yes she was brilliant and I am so glad I managed to see her! Hoping you are doing ok and get to see her later in the year as you will love it!! Xxx
Thank you for your fab post! I’m certainly sure you will have an amazing time! How exciting!
I can’t believe you have done so well?!! That is amazing and that has really spurred me in today. Do they know what your success is down to? Eg do you do complimentary or standard treatment or both?
You will love Venice! I’ve been twice and if you guys are into food, my one piece of advice is to select restaurants carefully! Some of the worst food I’ve eaten was in Venice! But also some of the best. What I found was: the restaurants that shout the loudest, often offer really bad food, whereas up the back streets, the restaurants where the Italian tourists/ locals eat are more low key and great food stocked. Follow any restaurant that us full of Italians. Have a read of Tripadvisor! Usually EXCELLENT for restaurant reviews!
Thanks Nicky we will heed your advice! I have read a few reviews but can’t remember where lol!!
No I haven’t had any alternative therapy as such but I do sometimes try visual imaging ( I think that’s what it’s called) otherwise I am just naturally positive and a bit bl**dy minded!! So just standard treatment so far though I do believe there are complimentary treatments that can help.
No idea where to eat Jane but do you have any room in your suitcase for me, please? You have a great time and we look forward to hearing all about it when you get back. xxx
hi Zena - I would love to take you and indeed all the ladies - that would be epic lol!! Unfortunately I am sharing a case with my mad friend and by the time we have the clothes shoes and bottles of alcohol it would be a tight squeeze!!
You go girl, I am just back from Iceland with my granddaughter, it truly was exhilarating and I strangely felt so well, I believe that it was because cancer was far from my mind.
I am sure you are right, I did Iceland last year with my daughter and it was phenomenal! We did a midnight jeep safari hunting the northern lights which was hilarious as I am a bit short and fat so struggled to get into the vehicle without a bunk up from the driver!! It’s a wonderful place isn’t it? Xx
Katsmum-have a fantastic time! I have not been--but I have heard its hard to find a place to eat that isn't good! Making memories is wonderful and Iceland is also on my bucket list! Did you see the Northern lights after our hunt for them?
Hi Judy - yes we did and quite a spectacular sight it was too! Like a dance in the sky, the off road jeep ploughing through three foot snowdrifts was really exciting and the guides kept us toasty with hot chocolate laced with vodka! Such brilliant memory making stuff! X
To be honest I have an accidental injury policy but as I am going to Europe I just have the EH111 card. If I was going outside Europe I would probably have to negotiate exclusion clauses with my bank travel insurance. Not much help I know! X
I'm so glad you can go, Jane. It's expensive but worth it. Nicky's advice is good. I went in 2016, pre-diagnosis. Use the waterbus, it's the best value for money you'll find in Venice.
