Well, I am delighted to tell you all that I have been given the all clear to go on my skiing holiday. I’ve seen the consultant today - my CA125 has gone down to 283 from 290 (could small, but regular doses of Ibuprofen have helped here?). She is happy to pronounce me fit to travel, and although she reiterated that my cancer isn’t curable, she also reminded me that it isn’t terminal either.
The last time I saw her I asked if there was any progression in the microscopic disease in my Peritoneal cavity. She asked the radiologists to review my scan from November 2016 next to my most recent scan and there is only minuscule growth (3mm) in the disease on my diaphragm. Sounds like good news to me, although I know things can change quickly.
Anyway, for the meantime, I am delighted to be off on my holidays, and would like to thank everyone here for the support you’ve given me while I’ve been worrying and for Travel Insurance advice (I eventually went with Eurotunnel, £98:50 for annual travel for Tom and I, Europe only, ski cover included, no medical declaration and only needed the ok from the consultant!)
I hope everyone is as well as they can be, I think about you all a lot, willing you all to find your best path through this monster of a disease.
With my love, Ali x
