Nodule in my pelvic area

Hi,

This is my first post. I had a cyst on my ovaries and had it removed along with my tubes and ovaries in March this year. It was a ovarian borderline rumour. I have other health issues. Ulcerative colitis with non typical symptoms. Also just been diagnosed with a goitre I can’t see and nodules on my thyroid. I’ve started medication for that this week and waiting for a biopsy.

Anyway I had a ct scan on my abdomen in October. The consultant phoned me a week later to tell me it was clear. However I was asked to go to the gynaecologist today to be told the report was back and they had found a 3 cms nodule in my pelvic area. I was shocked. They will phone me next week to inform me of an action plan. So worried. Why did the consultant not see it? It’s not that small.

Hello

You have had a nasty shock and it is natural to feel angry sad and all sorts of other things too! think of it this way...they did double check and found the nodule and now they will put together a treatment plan.

I know it's worrying and not what you were expecting but these things are not always easy to see or diagnose which is why they continued to check your histology.

In the end you must trust the team treating you so you could go back and ask them how they missed it...I am sure they will also be asking the same question. And they might give you an answer that reassures you that they are on your side.

As someone who also has a number of issues going on at once...it can feel a bit relentless but you can only go forward...best of luck with it all.

Hi, I think you are doing a lot of waiting with no answers, and your CT scan was initially misread. You should ask why you were misinformed and get a copy of your scan and the report and take it to a gynecology oncologist (gyn/onc). You should be proactive to get answers and any necessary treatment ASAP. Good luck!

Thank you. I did go to the gynaecologist last Thursday to another hospital. He tried and failed to take a biopsy of my womb with a long thin tube. It was really painful. He told me I have some fluid in the uterus but he’s not too concerned about that. He said he’ll remove the nodule and surrounding area and take some biopsies of the omentom. If the nodule is suspect, he will call me back at a later date to remove the uterus. So I am having a laparoscopy and I forgot to ask him how long i’ll be off work after that procedure. He wanted to do it before Christmas but I am going to the alps with my family from the 31st for a week so I know it will be in January. It worried me that it’s so quick. He doesn’t want to put me through a bigger operation needlessly. I have had a general anaesthetic 2 weeks ago to stretch my urethra as I struggle to pass water. It was better the first 2 weeks but no longer. So fed up of it all.
