Mum in hospital with low sodium levels, pain in her stomach/bowel and constipation. Need the pain relief and constipation sorted so that mum can function again. We could do with seeing the consultant but that's not possible while she's an in patient. I just don't know what to do, as nothing seems to be happening.

Sorry to hear your Mum is in hospital. Are you able to ask someone senior for an update on what they are doing and what the plan is for her? ( Onc ward rounds tend to be in the morning in my experience)
Hospitals do move very slowly and often don't explain what the delay is ( it may be that they want to wait and see how she picks up). I hope you find out and that she starts to feel better soon xx L
I went to A&E with lots of pain and breathing problems and it turned out to be dehydration and I had a long drip on sodium bicarbonate. I was kept in so that a member of the onc team could see me but waited a week before one came and then was discharged without any answers. I was told they had so many referrals everyday that noone had time to come and see me. The ward doctor did her best and requested the visit every morning so keep nagging until you get somewhere.
Thank you for your reply. This looks to be happening with my mum. Just left in the rehab ward with no real plan. I'm going in this morning and I'm also going to book an appointment with her oncologist. I will just take her out to see him if it comes to that. Everyone is very caring but nothing is happening xx
Hi. I took mum to her oncology appointment and got told off because we walked to it and should have gone in the ambulance. We didn't know there was an ambulance as 100 yards is easily walked!! Learn new things all the time
