I wore the cold cap during my first chemo and thought it might help but after three weeks my hair is falling out everywhere . I had my second chemo session yesterday and thought it was no point having the cold cap so didn't bother. Interestingly i spoke to lady who was on here 6th session having the same drugs and she had managed to keep hers mostly.
Quite depressing loosing hair but I supposed its one of those things ,must try and cheer up!!!!

I’m sorry it didn’t work for you, I didn’t want to try the cold cap as i felt it was just another complication in the whole treatment scenario. I lost every hair on my body, I knew I would so just went with the flow and it all grew back. I hope your treatment isn’t too harsh for you 2 treatments done already, you’re getting there lovely lady ❤️Xx Jane
Sorry the cold cap hasn't worked for you, must be really disappointing. I decided to shave my hair off once it started to fall out as it really wasn't very nice. I made sure I had my wig and hats ready before hand. I quite liked my wig and had lots of compliments about it. My hair has grown back well now with the addition of a few new curls! Good luck with the rest of your treatment. best wishes, Jo xx
I think it is quite a big ask for the cold cap to act against first line chemo. Why not make an appointment to get a wig and some flattering caps to give yourself a boost? It won't be forever...your hair will be back once you have finished xx
I'm still not sure if I will have to have any chemo or not but I made up my mind before my surgery that if I had to have chemo I was just going to shave my head so I was the one who made me loose my hair not the cancer. That was my way of trying not to be so sad about it. Sending well wishes and hugs your way. And lots of love
Losing your hair is shocking when it happens ....I was set up with wigs and new make up , determined to find my old actress within ! ( gave up acting in 1988 after 18 years on the boards ....) , but you lose all hair , your skin tone changes , wigs can be uncomfortable for some and I quickly got on line for chemo scarves .... there are loads out there and jolly nice they are too . I got loads to match outfits and hats for the winter . I have lost my hair three times , it does grow back quite quickly and you might even find it liberating ! I dyed my hair for forty years ....but not since chemo started in 2011 . I have saved a fortune , money wise and in time !
Much more important than hair loss is to pour your energies into feeling as well as you can.
Lots of rest , good food , hand cream , manicures maybe , accentuate your positives !

I think a lot of whether the cold cap works is if it's put on properly. It has to be very tight on all the head. If you have very thick hair it is less likely to work as it's more difficult to get the connection to the scalp. I'm so sorry it didn't work for you but your hair will return better than it was in the first place. There are lots of very pretty hats and scarves out there and with the cold weather coming you'll want to wear a hat even if you do have hair.
You'll look gorgeous. It's an interesting time waiting to see what hair will return first. My leg hair didn't come back for ages. I was hoping it never would. One eye brow and the lower lashes of one eye still haven't come back. I disguise it with make up if I'm going out but otherwise I don't bother. No ones perfect.
Definately makes a difference if fitted properly. Mine didn't fit on top of my head and this is where I lost my hair. Another lady posted that her nurse had packed the cap with gauze to make it fit.
Surely the gauze would prevent connection with the head. There are different sizes of cap and the strap is so tight round the chin that it's hard to eat and open mouth. I felt a bit of a plonker as well but I'm so glad I used it even though it did make the whole process longer. x
Don't know about the gauze-had thought of a wet sponge so that it froze in the gap. Nurse said not eveyone's head is the same shape. Having said that-one of the nurses did a better job of fitting it than the others.
Sorry you had that response but I did hear it can be difficult to tolerate if you want to look at the bright side. There are really nice scarves, hats, and I live in NY where so many people walk around bald and no one seems to look at them strangely or sympathetically. I didn't do that but I was always proud when I saw it. Do what's comfortable for you and hopefully you can find what helps make you not feel self conscious (altho that takes a little time. Sorry the cold cap didn't work.
I wore the cold cap and lost my hair continually throughout frontline but still had hair at the end of it -though rather thin on top. It is growing back now so have a mixture of new thicker hair and older thin hair so look a bit odd. So have started wearing a hat now 4 months after chemo ended. Would definately recommend tne cold cap.
My hair had almost gone by cycle 3 and decided to shave it off it felt great and I couldn't believe how much energy I had waisted on worrying about hair. But it was a different story when it came to my eyebrows I hated it. If the pesky cancer comes back ii will definitely be looking at semi permanent eyebrows . My hair is now growing back and I'm loving my short hair will be experimenting with lots of different colours.
