Impatient patient update

Turns out nagging wasn''t needed after all. Chocolate was. I got a call from the appointments office today and have been booked onto the oncology ward for Friday so they can re-challenge and try the paclitaxel again in a safer environment. No mention was made of steroids beforehand though. Perhaps they'll simply up the dose on the day? Anyway, I'm relieved that something's happening. Thanks for all the words of encouragement.

And a new blog post for anyone who's interested. themelonandme.wordpress.com...

Hi there, this sounds great but when you are seen on Friday just make sure you mention what happened to you last time. It's easy to assume they will have all your details of your pass events & hopefully they will but it won't hurt to mention it.

I had a leak from my chemo it was dreadful & I had to have all my clothes destroyed. It burnt me & left a mark on my neck. If that wasn't bad enough no one from the chemo clinic informed my onc I was shocked. So I never assume the communication between different apartments are 100% correct.

When I have my treatments now I alway ask lots of questions because mistake do happen & I have to take some responsibly for my own well being.

Good luck keep us up dated. Take care Cindyxx

Sorry to hear you had a leak. Didn't know that could happen. Thanks for the tip. I will definitely tell them! Last time I casually asked about the steroids and they had to phone oncologist as they didn't know I was supposed to have them. I was told I'd have 3 days of oral steroids before the next try and that hasn't happened. I assumed everyone knew everything. 😱

Hi there, I have only been given steroid once before chemo from a onc that knew nothing about my history. She was concern my bloods might be too low before treatment.

Hopefully you didn't need the steroids & they will give you extra steroids or other drugs on the day. Take care Cindyxx

I'd be given oral steroids and then they'd try again with a slow drip at the oncology centre. But...
