What is it with taste buds ? The only thing that tastes normal is chocolate? Is this why we get given lots in the chemo unit πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ

Ps the chosen wig at 3am just whilst the insomnia kicks in and the baby sleeps 😀

Yes I have scarfs too for hot chemo days. But I will not be seen out of house without wig. πŸ˜‚

Do u think it will blow off in wind ?

ZenaJ profile image
ZenaJ in reply to Zena41

I was worried about that especially as they told me I have a very flat bit on my head and it wouldn't stick to it. They gave me some tape which can be used. I don't think it would blow away though just be a bit hot and itchiy. I could be wrong about that too.

Good luck with it. xxx

It looks really great the wig, I wouldn't have known if you hadn't said. I ended up not liking chocolate much during chemo (nor red wine either). It's probably the steroids keeping you awake, doesn't last.

I honestly thought that was your real hair, looking good !!

Wow. chocolate and foot massage. Nothing like that at my hospital, though the staff are lovely. Hair looks super. Before I read your post I presumed it was a pre chemo photo.

I love the wig! Perfectly natural! Hmm, I got a ham sandwich during chemo. Had to pack my own stash of M&Ms. And nothing whatsoever tasted good for 18 days between each 21 days between treatments. Even water tasted awful.

Zena41 in reply to Mommoo65

Yes I am thinkinking the same. Maltesers have been the answer everything tastes metallic

Great wig. And if you take ur second steroid dose before midday, you have better chance of sleeping. Personally, I reduced the dose and took them for a day longer.

I spent a fortune on mine and never wore it. But I did dye my brown hair platinum when it started growing in. Yours looks amazing. Enjoy the chocolate. I craved it too.

Yes thought it was your own hair too. I ate loads of chocolate in chemo unit but didn't want it other times and still don't-weird!

Looking good, mine were rooted too which makes them more natural looking, I wouldn't have thought it was a wig if you hadn't said it was.

The taste buds bit is rubbish, I could only taste chocolate and cheese biscuits everything else tasted of chemicals and metal, it does get better but not until the chemo is done with I'm afraid.

Don't have your steroids after lunch time they can keep you awake, I took mine in the mornings with my metallic chemical breakfast πŸ˜‚

Keep up the good work, when are you back at Christies? I'm there Thursday for a check up.

Stay as well as you can, big hugs ❀️ Xx Jane

Thank you ladeez for giving me the strength to wear this wig

Just one more thing are they likely to blow off in the wind? Anyone recommend any stickys ? Xx

January-2016-UK in reply to Zena41

Mine felt very secure even when it was quite windy and I didn't use stickies. I found I only had to take care when taking my hood off if it had stop raining. I found that if I put one hand into the hood first, pressed on top of the wig and then pulled the hood down with the other hand this stopped the tendency of the wig to move / come off with the hood. Of course if I was out with only my dog I was less careful.

We're chemo twins! On day two of my first chemo. I woke up at 4:30 a.m. and couldn't go back to sleep. Now I'm eating breakfast (I live in the U.S) and have a metallic taste in my mouth. Plus I'm kind of lightheaded. Ugh!!!! Let's stay in touch so we can compare symptoms and help each other. I've already started taking a bunch of stool softener to get ready for the constipation. I actually finished my last chemo five years ago this month. That had been a major issue. Gonna start Zofran today and look for a wig this week. When were you told your hair would fall out?

Zena41 profile image
Zena41 in reply to Reega

Five years wow ! What stage are u?

Reega profile image
Reega in reply to Zena41

I was stage 1c when diagnosed before. Zofran is an anti nausea medication. Not sure how much it's working for me this afternoon!

What is zofran?

Kryssy profile image
Kryssy in reply to Zena41

Hi girls. May I muscle in and make it triplets as I started on Tuesday. I'm a little behind you but still at the same stage. Not much to report, just feeling a bit woozy with numb fingertips. Don't feel sick at all nor have funny taste in mouth. Very tired though and drop off to sleep quickly, which is not the norm for me.

Hope all goes well with you both. I'm following you now.

Good early morning Zena.

Woke up in the middle of the night feeling a bit sick so looked on my list and Zofran is the next stage anti sickness pill. One morning and night for three days. Took one with some milk and nausea gone now. But, whole body in agony. Shoulders stiff and hunched and pain everywhere, especially hands and feet. Shuffled about like an old lady, which I am. Typing with one numb finger on Kindle now. Told hubby to sleep but I know he's laying here next to me worrying. Hoping to see GP this morning to talk about Peripheral Neuropathy as I don't want this for ever thanks. Did you have that? I believe the Taxol causes it.

I realised that something was lost in translation with the Oncologist. I thought he said that after chemo I would be bad on the fifth day but now I realise he said I would be bad for the first five days after. Makes sense now. I was thinking that if I feel crap now, what on earth will I feel like come Sunday? What a numptie.

How are you feeling Zena? Are you in your second week after or third?

We'll get through this I'm sure.

Loving your wig. I thought it was your own hair, very natural looking. I never got any chocolate in my chemo unit! Good luck. Ann xx

That really does look so natural! Thought it was your own! I had a wig that was shorter but never felt like it would blow away. I only wore it on special occasions though as I had a rash that itched like hell on my head!

The taste thing was horrible until I found a few things that were not too bad, pineapple, curry and Irish cream liqueur- not all at once! Mostly I missed my cup of tea for about a week at a time! Hoe all goes well for you! Xx

Fab. Wouldn't have known it was a wig. I've decided wigs are the way forward. I've had so many spontaneous comments from people when have no idea it's not my real hair. The lady in boots was great and kept quizzing me about who my hairdresser was and going on about the fact that my hair was the exact colour she dreamed of. Even asked if I dyed it and if so where did I get it done. Bless.

You look fab. Go with it!
