Today I had my second session of chemotherapy. Staying positive and believing that the chemotherapy will shrink all the tumors. My blood work shows that my levels in my liver are much better so that is good news! 👍🏼 thank you all for your prayers and support!!

Good for you. Chemo did it for my PPC 5 years ago. Although I'm back on Carboplatin only for lymph node involvement I remain optimistic this time too. Stay smiling and positive
I never had surgery Ange but there was never a suggestion I should have it. I think mine was too extensive with no large tumours. It was probably meant to be as I wouldnt have been brave enough to have it ! I admire those who have been through it. Take care Ange
Yes I was also diagnosed with ppc. Like molly said stay positive. I believe with chemo and prayers I will beat this. We all have a lot to live for. Thinking of you and stay positive, love Julie xxx
You are at beginning of your road. Stay strong and positive. Chemo will pass quicker than you think. Eat healthy to help your system fight with C. All will be good. Best of luck and take care.
Hi Ange. I too was diagnosed back in January with PPC. I had 4 rounds of chemo then surgery then 3 more chemo. I had a lot of disease and surgeons amazed at how well chemo had worked. Have oncologist on Friday. First appt after scan after last chemo. I believe all is well but looking forward to an official 'in remission'. I've remained positive with a few rubbish days here and there. I've even managed to get back to work part time. Sending hugs and best wishes. Tracey x
Praying with you for your final remission results. They are going to do 6 cycles of chemo for me. Then see how the tumors have shrunk and then survey. I have a lot of tumors also so I'm glad to hear the chemo worked so well for you. Have you heard of the HIPEC treatment? Please keep us updated on your good news!
I have heard of HIPEC. it's not something offered at my hospital. A lot of American ladies on our site and other overseas patients speak of having it. Have you been offered it. It does sound like the chemo is delivered more accurately to the affected area. I'll let you know how Friday goes xx
Hi Ange, I was diagnosed with PPC July 2015 , diagnosed with Ovarian cancer 12 years ago!!!!!!!
I responded brilliantly to chemotherapy had 4 lots then debulking surgery then another 2 and finished last lot in Jan this real and had all clear with'post chemo scan So here is sending my best wihes and kind thoughts and hope your response is equally as good as mine. .
I had both chemo then surgery then 3 more chemo, I was given the words Ned from the surgeon when I thanked him he said thank the chemo, as before my treatment started the MDT where not optimistic that I would have surgery.
I only had my last chem two weeks ago but both surgeon and oncologist are very encouraged by my response, so much so I do not need to go on maintanance treatment now even though it was discussed at the beginning of my treatment.
Stay positive don't use Dr Google like I did and made myself so anxious, I wake up each day and know I've been blessed.
Ellsey xx
That is good news indeed and remember that is the result after one treatment so the numbers will get better as the treatment goes along. I think we need to stay positive with this illness because we need to have hope
Just like you. PPC stage 3c. Diagnosed June 2015. Once I started the chemo I felt so much better. The syptoms subsided and I learnt how to manage my lifestyle to make me feel better. Recovered well from surgery and started to live my new way of living. Don't get me wrong, also had the dark days, but got good support from my local Maggie's centre. I have recently returned to work, and am hopeful for a bit of a break from the medics. Everyone has slight variations in how they respond to the different treatments, so there is plenty first hand info on the forum.
Thank you for your story. If you don't mind me asking what were some of the symptoms you were feeling? I just had a c section 2 weeks ago and that is when I was diagnosed with the cancer.. They found the tumors. So I'm still recovering from the c section and I'm not sure what pains are from what at this point. So I'm curious.
Your experience is something I could not imagine. The emotional impact of coping with a c section, a newbaby and your diagnosis is quite something. I mainly had the classic symptoms of bloating, bowel problems an extreme tiredness prior to diagnosis. During the 4 weeks leading up to my first chemo I looked about 7 months pregnant, had lost about 2 stones in weight and looked like something from a zombie movie. I struggled to eat anything, found walking upstaits difficult and couldnt concentrate or do much for myself.
The week after my first chemo I experienced a lot of sharp pains a bit like electric shocks, in my abdomen and lower pelvis. I'm sure this was the cancer being zapped, because it was where the tumour and the stranding was located on the CT Scan. This repeated itself, but in a reduced way as each of the first 3 chemos progressed. I had a good reduction in tumour by the time of my debulking. i have high grade which responds well to chemo. I also found a low fibre diet useful and lots of fluids to help with managing constipation. Greek yoghurt with pureed apricots was a favourite thing to eat. Nice and cool, with calcium and calories too. I have a lovely friend who made me little boxes of fish pie and soup to keep in the freezer for quick meals.
I continuosly improved over time and have been NED since February. I had a double mastectomy and reconstruction in June and although I don't want to belittle the impact of the operation, it was easier to manage than the abdominal surgery. It's kind of cheesy, but I often think of the saying, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I hope you have good support around you to help with the practical day to day stuff. I have found this forum the best reference tool around. So much support and good advice. Just keep asking. I am sure you will have something to offer other young people and mothers. Great admiration for you.
Wow. So happy for you! It has been a long road and now you can enjoy.
Did you have fluid in your abdominal area? Since I was pregnant for 40 weeks I don't know if I had bloating. I do feel the sharp pains when I need to have a bowl movement so I'm assuming that is the diagnosis.
It has been a roller coaster and it has only been a few weeks. I have a very long road ahead of me. Thankfully I have my husband and family to support me. It's stories like yours that get me through these days.
Hi I had 3 cycles of Carbo/Taxol in May for my OC Stage 3C. In the beginning I was not a candidate for surgery, but the chemo shrunk all the tumours enough that I was able to have surgery. They got all visible cancer and there was no residual disease. Now I am back doing 3 more cycles of Carbo/Taxol to get rid of anything microscopic. My CA125 has gone from 16,000 to 18! So please stay positive (I know that is so, so hard at times) because the chemo did shrink my tumours and I had a good outcome with surgery. You can too!!! Kim xo
Thanks! I have a lot of people supporting me and praying for me. I'm sure that helped get those results. I had 3 cycles of chemo which is 9 weeks. I started May 18th to July 11th then had surgery July 26th. Started chemo again 21 days after surgery.
Awesome. I'm having 18 sessions, 6 cycles. Then the plan is surgery. I know it's feels nice to have all the support and prayers.. I know that will help in my treatment too. I finished my first cycle today!
Congratulations Ange!! 1 cycle down!!! I don't mind going to chemo because I know it is another opportunity to kill the cancer cells, and it is a step forward in my wellness. Stay strong! It is hard at times for sure, but the support and prayers are wonderful to focus on!! Plus you have a beautiful baby to focus on. That will help with your journey for sure! Stay in touch and let us know how things are going for you. Kim xo
