Chemo won't leave without a fight!

So I had my final chemo last Thursday and out of all 6 this is the worst I've felt! I know I'm lucky as apart from the bowel obstruction a couple of months ago this recurrence has been pretty plain sailing but seriously - the nausea and washed out weak feeling can do one now 😖

Hi, I remember feeling like that after number five. I was breathlessness, had terrible chemo brain, I couldn't stand up for more than a minute before I had to sit down and I couldn't even do the simple tasks like pegging washing on the line as I couldn't lift my arms. I was dreading number six but surprisingly I didn't feel as bad. Hopefully you will start to pick up in the next few a days and regain your strength. Take care x

I had number 5 and it's been awful too. No.6 was cancelled as platelets were too low... but think Friday I'll get it... felt awful periods of absolute tiredness. Like you cannot do much at all. Dreading number 6 . Hope you feel better soon.

it doesn't last forever.....does it???

Hi Ricky Just to give you reassurance..... no it doesn't. All three times after last chemos I was back at work full time after 6 weeks (much to the disgust of my CNS lol but I refuse to be laid low!). Kathy xxx

No lovey it doesn't. We went to Cornwall a couple of week after number five by which time I was feeling much better and we had a wonderful time x

Remember that feeling well. Take it a day at a time, each day you should start to feel just that tiniest bit better, probably doesn't feel like it now, but eventually you will. xx Kathy xxx

Hi Ricky By then you should be ok to go to Greece. You may not be running any marathons whilst there but you should be able to take things easy. Enjoy you hols xx Kathy xx

Hi Becky, I have been wondering how you are really sorry to hear that the last chemo has had such a horrid effect. The good news is that it is the last one and I remember at surgery you had NED so long may that continue.. SO PAMPER YOURSELF and hope the side effects soon disappear. Chris

This carbo caelyx 2nd line really does seem to build up side effects especially fatigue each tme. I have found the 4th one hard enough. No wonder you are feeling wiped out at the end of all 6, especially after dealing with a bowel obstruction in the middle of your treatment. Sending you a virtual hug and hoping you start to feel better soon x

Hi Becky, I felt exactly the same when I had completed all 6 of my treatment four recurrence. I think its pretty normal. It did take me a few months to start feeling better. My advice, just go with the flow, if you do too much one day expect to be wiped out the next, if your not then that's a bonus. It will get better. Ann xx
