Evening ladies. Well it went as I expected. The fluid in my left leg has been caused by the removal of lymph nodes during my surgery last year. It leaves me with a chronic long term condition. They said it can be managed by wearing a support stocking (permanently), exercise, but I am high risk of getting cellulitis :( I understand why they have to remove lymphs, fortunately mine were all clear but this is just something I could do without. Next week I have my first 3 monthly check up with the surgeon, already feeling very anxious about that, but I can ask him how many lymphs they removed and his opinion. Has anyone else experienced this, they said it was very common after surgery for cancer. Felt down about it all day, but need to shake myself down and get on with it. My poor husband has Parkinsons, was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer in 2008 and he never complains. So........onwards and upwards! x

Dear Lord, you've got enough on your plate. I am thrilled for you to be NED. Also happy to hear your husband is in remission. I have a close friend who has been in remission --NED after first round chemo/surgery no more treatment necessary-- for many years from 3C OC. She does have lymphedema in both legs and wears a compression garment every day. She's used to it, but hot weather brings discomfort. She tells me that swimming brings her great relief and she feels no pain or discomfort when in a heated pool. I have not yet had any lymphedema show up from my OC surgery, but I do have slight lymphedema from a mastectomy I had in 2006. I do not need a pressure sleeve, but my arm, armpit and hand can get painful if I over use them.

Thank you ladies, sorry about your arm Tesla, sounds as though you too have had a lot on your plate. Some of us seem to get a basin full don't we? I have always said though that nothing will ever be as bad as losing my son, if I can survive that I can face anything else thrown at me. x
