Hand and foot syndrome : Has anyone experience... - My Ovacome
Hand and foot syndrome
Hi Bobbyo1. My mum had 6 Caelyx - 2nd line. She used Udder Cream! I've heard Aveeno is good too. But after the third chemo her hands were so sore and splitting quite badly, that her Caelyx was reduced by 20% and things really improved after that. She found ice packs helped and she kept two little ones in the freezer. But, if you use ice packs, make sure you wrap something round them! Good luck. Jane x
Hi
I'm on carbo and caelyx. I use LA Roche - Poway cream called Cicaplast Baume B5. Very natural, you can get it in Boots, 100ml costs around 11 euro. I use it for my hands, feet and face. Is really good.
Also I have cold pads in fridge and when burning and itches is worse, usually first week after chemo, I'm cooling my feet and hands with those pod. Big relief.
Hope that will help
Take care, lots of hugs
Zaneta
Hello Bobby01,
I have just completed 6x Caelyx and had this most of the time from the second cycle onwards. I used Cetreban cream, recommended by the chemo unit, because it is a bit greasy which means it will stay on your hands a bit longer. As others have already said, ice packs really helped relieve itching. Also, try to anything that involves gripping tightly as I found that aggravated it. The good news is that I am now six weeks post chemo and my hands are much, much better!

Thanks for your advice went in to my local pharmacy ask what he also suggested was a couple of creams but I have some zero base at home so using that and using ice packs which is helping thanks once again Bobbyoi xx
I think Aveeno is good or if you just want to use plain acqueous creams that is fine too, Your onc can prescribe something stronger if you ask. I havent had Caelyx but have picked up some information from the other ladies.
