Seeing my oncologist this Friday about my scan results. I finished chemo on the 16th of December, but recently I have been getting a few stabbing pains in my stomach. They don't last long but come and go, I am frightened it is coming back. Has anyone else experienced this after finishing chemo. Thanks, Julie xx
Trying to keep positive : Seeing my oncologist... - My Ovacome
Trying to keep positive
I think we have all been here. Try and distract yourself if you can
Hi Julie - I can't offer any advice specifically as I've not had to have chemo, but I can certainly sympathise with worrying over pains! I think most of us on here would agree that once you've had a diagnosis, any niggle or pain will immediately make us worry for the worst, so rest at ease that that is a very normal feeling to have. I wish you all the best for your scan results on Friday hun and hopefully that will put your mind at east that it's nothing to worry about. Thinking of you. Jemima xx
Yeah... this was me a few months ago. Waiting for the scan results and had some nasty pains - I thought it was OC and my GP thought it was appendicitis. Turns out it was neither - told NED by the oncologist and I still have my appendix.
Try not to worry about it (easier said than done!!).
Hi Julie
For a long time after chemo I used to get muscle pain ( although that wasn't clear at the time) right around my abdo but particularly pain that felt as if it was under my ribs. It turned out to be nothing at all and has largely disappeared.
Hope yours is similar and turns out to be one of those passing things following chemo! xx Lyndall
Hi, in a word yes. I still get the odd stabbing pain now and even though I know im ok the first thought is 'its back' and as my hubby says as soon as my dr says im ok the pains stop! I hope Friday goes well, please let us know. Sending you a big hug xx Kathy xx
Hi Juliette, yes you can have that in the area where the cancer was for some reason, my oncologist said it was normal, These days it is almost non existent
Thanks suzuki, sending you all my best wishes. Love Julie xx
Yes I get odd pains and I finished chemo in November. I was NED earlier this month. I asked my oncologist what I should be concerned about in the future. She told me I was allowed to be unwell but if anything lasted for more than a week or 10 days to get in touch with my CNS and they would check me. It's reassuring to know that once they have hold of us they don't let go completely. Try not to panic, if you need reassurance ring your CNS.
Try to relax- easy said!🙃

I know exactly how your feeling, I finished chemo in June 2016, I landed up having 2 UTI's. which made me feel quite poorly, then I got a niggle where the cancer was, convinced myself it was coming back. I went to my gp the week before christmas in tears I felt so down, she did every test she could possibly do, nothing wrong but decided dizepam 2mg was best way forward for awhile, it's been my answer to the pain the worry had just got me down, I feel really soo much better doing normal stuff now, good luck. Yes, I had those too. I think chemo irritates the lining of all soft tissues. The pains went away. So did the nose bleeds, the sore throat, the dry as the desert eyes, the irritated bum. All of that went away, all that remains for me after 5.5 months is a tiny bit of foot neuropathy and chemo brain memory issues.
Hi Julie
Worrying about niggly pains becomes part of most of our lives. It can really get you down and I have been there , bought the tShirt so many times. I find getting good news about a scan can lift the pain along with the spirits . I hope this happens for you on Friday so will be keeping my fingers crossed for you . Take care and I wish you the best of news on Fri.

Its nice to feel you are not alone, I am currently sat up in bed with a hot water bottle on my tummy as its felt irritated and sore all day.........keep feeling for swelling etc! Awaiting my 6th chemo on the 24th, ct on the 6th Feb.........but as you say every niggle worries you.........not surprising is it? I am sure all will be well, good luck on Frid! x
Hi Lovely,
From an outsiders point of view it's quite normal to feel like this. Scan results always feel like a waiting game, the same as it is for those on watch and wait, it plays on everyone's mind is a little niggle the C word come back with avengence? As I say to my special person if its come back we're back on the chemo train. You have to remember they're finding new treatments everyday and there is always hope as long as you believe. Mind over matter easier said than done but it helps a lot. I hope you have a strong support network who can help you through this and we're always here someone will always listen xxx
I have had pain under my right rib for ages and got really bad last week. Had 3 month check up with surgeon yesterday, it's my gallbladder! As she said the trouble is we all tend to assume that everything is related to cancer now & forget that other things can be a problem too!! It's so hard, after 5 years I still freak out every time. Good luck xxx

I think we all go through this and what was once frequently ignored by us now makes us so frightened it has returned, I am now four months on and every time I get a niggle I start worrying. I have started doing different things in my life to keep my mind off it.
Hugs Ellsey xx
Yes most definitely, finished chemo Nov 4th and have had all kinds of funny twinges and pains. My view is that the steroids I was taking each chemo masked a lot of aches and pains.
We have all been through a lot, hardly surprising we are feeling a few twinges.
I have been convinced it's not gone or come back at least once a day! 😜

Thanks Lisa, you are right and thinking about it I wasn't having pains when I was on the chemo (and steroids) . 😏xx
Hi. Yes, we all visit that in our minds. My GYNONC told me you will become very aware of your body noticing more than you ever have in the past. Keep in mind that your mind is your most powerful tool and if you let it control you in a negative manner it will. They to focus on what makes you happy, focus on what you can do to keep busy but most of all keep the faith stay strong and remain positive. Control your mind don't let it control you. Try meditation that works I recently have been doing it myself. Best wishes and please let us know how you do love Nancy
Hi Nancy thanks for your encouraging reply, and just got to say what a lovely photo. I read your profile and it was so upbeat. When I was on chemo I did suffer quite a lot with fatigue but it's now a month since my last chemo and feeling more or less back to normal. Also I am going to get back doing a bit of yoga stretches, I have a few yoga dvd's. Also I have my faith ,. I will try meditation as well.
Love Julie xx
Hi Julie-
What you are experiencing is normal-I finished my chemo in October 2016 and had my CT scan in November. Boy did I think every little twinge was a new tumor coming back and I was full of anxiety. Little pains that a year ago I would not give and thought about got my imagination working overtime. Try to stay busy, get a massage or go in a hot tub to take your mind off the unknown. We have all been in your shoes or will be. Keep thinking positive thought and stay in touch. Sending support and love.
XxCarol
I get an aching sometimes in my pelvic area, the location of my tumour and tugging in the area of my scar, but, I had my scan in October and am NED,so, I think we all have this, try not to worry,so many of us have said the same,so chances you will be fine,

Yes, and after careful observation I've noticed that it happens when my bowel is slow if you know what I mean. Once I've gone, the pain seems to have gone too! Good luck. Ann xx
Hi im also waiting for my scan results after finishing chemo november after a reccurrance.. my appointment is on 25th jan... not looking forward to it be a bag of nerves on the morning.. ive bein avin alot of acheing in my body since chemo ended more than i had after 1st line treatment.. so i also worry... all the best sending u hugs xxx
Julie I've had that a few times and thankfully it turned out to be scar adhesions causing problems. It was very painful at times and also frightening as the dreaded return of the unwelcome visitor is always at the back of your mind.
I think if the pain is regular and constant then you definitely need checked.
I have had a recurrence and did know it was back before my scan. I could tell the difference and the pain wasn't intermittent it pretty much stayed all the time even though it was just a niggle.
I would say if it is starting to worry you get it checked and give yourself peace of mind. There's no point in worrying unnecessarily as it's tough enough at times living with this. Good luck for your appointment on Friday xo
Hi, not been on here for a few weeks but thought I would let you know my scan results came back ned. Was so relieved, I will next see my oncologist near the end of March. Just want my feet and ankles to go down also swelling on my right leg, my onc said if I get any pain in the leg to get it checked out as it could be blood clot. Not got Any pain but thinking of getting it checked today being it's over two weeks since I saw oncologist and it's still swollen. Xx
.
That's great news Juliette, NED is a fabulous result! do hope that you have some relief and improvements in your leg very soon. Good idea to get the swelling checked out... Best wishes, Sx
