Hi Lorraine, I only had a problem with one of my toenails and while it wasn't painful at it it was a freaky experience! I didn't do anything specific as I'd read that once they start to go that there's not much that can stop it. I wore light cotton socks to try and stop my nail catching and changed those regularly.

I just did a quick search for the word 'toenails ' in the search box on the main page and lots of previous posts came up from ladies going through the same thing as you, some put tea tree oil on however most said that their nails lifted and dud come off but it WASNT painful.

Sorry you're going through this

Take care

Hi Lorrainne-

Sorry to hear about the toe nail lifting. I just finished chemo round 6 and have nail lifting on my fingernails. i am lucky it started near the end of my chemo. I just keep the nails short.i am afraid they will tear off. There are finger tip covers for office workers that fit on all the smaller toes.

Hi Carol,

I think fingernail lifting would be very hard, as you need to use your hands all the time I hope you manage alright,

At the moment it's only my big toes effected,

I have 2 more caelyx, I have one every 4 weeks.

thank you for your support.

I have had toe nail trouble since having Carbo, just one but it does feel like I may lose it and I am squeamish at the best of times. I wore socks in bed so I didn't catch it and kept the nail short, layered with gel nail varnish. It seems a little stronger now. Probably held in place by my paranoia lol

Hi Lily-Ann,

Thank you for your reply.

I purchase some cotton sock, like you I'm quite squeamish.

One tip I was give at the clinic was to paint my nail with black nail polish, keeps the sun and light off nail.

I try the gel first .

Thank you

I had a toe nail lift just the one I sorted it by putting a sticking plaster on it and it bedded back in again. Mention it to your team as they may help you out on this

Hi Suzuki,

I put the plasters on my toes as I was worried about getting a infection,

At work I need to cover the toes as I ware open toe shoes at the moment.

Cheers Lorraine
