Sore toe.

Hi ladies, since my last chemo last December I think I have suffered from neuropathy as my toes go numb. But today one of my toes is very painful and red. I can't put any pressure on it, not had this before. I wondered if anyone else had this. Xx

Could be gout, urea crystals building up in joints. Starts in toes first.

Good point. I read something once that chemo can raise urea crystals

Maybe get it checked out if it continues just in case it’s an infection. Is it hot to the touch?

HI, I was thinking exactly the same it could be gout. MY DAD USE to get it and it was very, very painful. Hope you get it sorted out soon. Chris

Thankyou ladies, I've just Googled it and it came up with gout. It is hot to touch, if it's the same tomorrow I I will make appointment to see my GP. Xx

Look up diet for gout. You can do that right away. Eileen

Hi Juliette.

Hubby has gout in his toes so drinks a glass of pineapple juice every morning and it keeps away. Being sceptical of my witch`s remedies, he occasionally stops it and after a while he has gout again. It's the bromelain in pineapple that works its magic and the core contains the most and they use the core in juice but it's the bit we chuck out in fresh. The doctor will give you pills containing bromelain with a host of other chemicals too. Pineapple is the only fruit that contains bromelain, I'm sure. Worth a Google if you prefer a natural approach but do see your GP to rule out anything else.

Neuropathy will give you pins and needles as well as numbness and pain but it can come on after chemo stops in a few cases. Mine caused tremendous heat too. Good luck.

Thanks kryssy, I have just made appointment to see doctor this morning. Also going to try pineapple juice which I think will be better than pills. Julie xx

Get it checked out as feet affected by neoropathy are essentially like diabetic feet and need to be well looked after. When I had bed rest after surgery I hadn't realised my heel was sore and I developed a stage 1 heel ulcer because of neoropathy caused by chemo.Four years down the line that heel keeps cracking despite balm and socks every day.Viv xx.

Thanks viv, I saw doc this morning and he as prescribed me some anti inflammatory tablets. Though it does seem a bit better, but still red and swollen. 😏 xx Julie

Also I am going to try pineapple juice. Xx

It was better to get it sorted today anyhow, so take the pineapple juice as well as the tablets it wont do any harm
