Hi is anybody just having Beva every 3 weeks and suffering with lower back and pelvic ache. Finished chemo 6 weeks ago and I'm finding if I walk for more that 15 mins or stand for that time my lower back and hips start to ache.
Just wondered if it might be the Beva?

If you are talking bevicumizab (sp? ) or avastin I have been having foot nerve pain. There was some debate on the part of the doctors about whether this was a side effect. They now seem to be accepting that it is and I am on lyrica for the nerve pain. It is definately worth a discussion with your docs. The Mayo Clinic webite in the US has a list of potential side effects that I found more useful than the documentation I was given to look at to check and see whether my pain was a possible side effect.
I completely agree that you should talk to your team about this but as a fellow sufferer of aches and pains while on Avastin, I have recently started attending gym sessions run by my local hospital and guess what?! Far from making the pain worse it has really eased it off. I was not expecting this at all but v gentle stretching might be worth a try?
I'm on avastin and now getting fairly constant pain in left leg/hip and from what I read it's fairly common to get aches and pains on it. But I agree you should tell your oncologist about this. Interesting about the gym sessions helping Lyndy I might have to try it!
I'm starting aqua aerobics soon see if that helps. Seeing oncologist next Monday so will ask the question.
Thanks for your reply xx
Yes you do get aches and pain when on Avastin part of the course, My left hip playing up a lot now finished Avastin a year ago and left it go for ages. So now facing the music as it were. I have had steroid inj in my hip and need another. One thing I would advise is have a bone density scan if you hadnt one in the past two years. I left mine go and now have osteopenia
I am on Bevacizumab (am calling it Beva from now on, love it!) alone now every 3 weeks after having had it with my 5 out of 6 cycles of chemo. My final (18th) Beva will be in February. I am on the ICON8B trial. I was diagnosed with Stage 4 OC and PPC in December 2015 - currently NED. I am really achy particularly hips and neck. My oncologist sent me for an MRI which didn't show up anything other than expected wear and tear at my age (59). I have started Pilates classes which I'm hoping will help. Good advice to ask for a Dexascan.
Good luck everyone. Keep fighting this horrid disease and stay positive.
I was on ICON8B trial too ,well I still am as I'm on Beva until next July, had my chemo weekly finished chemo 6 weeks ago. I also like you had stage 4 OC, now NED may it continue. I wish you the same, and you stay in good health xx
You must be on the arm of the trial I hoped to be on but I am on the control arm so had my chemo 3 weekly. I do feel privileged to be part of this trial as I feel the monitoring is very good and it's good to feel one is doing something to help others. Thank you for replying. So pleased you are NED - fingers crossed for the future xx
I started on Avastin last Feb and have had 12 treatments - up to about a month ago I was really only troubled by stiff feet getting out of bed in the morning and a bit of plantar fasciitis. More recently my hips, bum and pelvic area have been aching - feels like I've been sitting on a hard seat for hours. There is no restriction in my movement or anything - have been doing Pilates and go walking regularly. I just ache sometimes. Onc said it would be from the treatment.
