Joint Pain

Hi everyone,

I have been looking on an American forum, and apparently the anti-histamine Claritin is prescribed there for chemo joint pain. Has anyone here come across this? I intend to ask my Onc when I see him in a couple of weeks.

I did hear that mentioned before in one of the posts that an antihistamine was prescribed by somebodys oncologist and it worked but I cannot remember who posted at the time if you check down through the blogs and put in antihistimine it might come up,

I find the joint pain the worse side effect by far. Pain killers don't stop them so would love something to take the pain away as it effects my sleep which isn't very good anyway.

My geneticist not sure that an anti histamine that possibly interferes with immune system a good idea.

Try magnesium baths & supplements maybe?

In a different note, I found (after the huge surgery we all have to have) I go wee all b.... night! Is it a kink in my bladder? Not sure. However, I have recently managed to sleep up to 6 hours.

I sleep in a foetal position, & used to be up every 2 hours for small amount of urine. Now, I turn onto my back when the urge strikes, & nod off as it then wanes. My body usually goes back on my side to be honest, yet the next time I wake I 'go' properly.

Sorry to any of u who finds this a tad personal, but trying to help.

I agree-the joint pain and muscle cramps were the worst! I found that hot packs on my thighs and lower back helped.

My onc dropped the dose of Taxol for the last cycle and I had almost no pain. Wished I'd done it earlier!

Hope you find a solution

Lou

Thanks for your replies ladies. I agree the pain does make life difficult. I have plans for a long soak in an Epsom salts bath tonight, hopefully followed by a good night's sleep!
