I'm on single agent carbo and just finished number 4. I have been very lightheaded and a little scared. Up til now I have hardly had any side effects. Is it accumulating and giving me a harsher reaction or am I imagining this?

Very lightheaded after carbo
Hi. Chemo side effects are cumulative and the lightheadedness will recede once the chemo has stopped, at least that was my experience. Just take things a little slower, no rushing around lol xx
Don't worry, I had single agent and exactly the same thing. Apparently it's quite common, but because I hadn't experienced it before I asked to see the doctor on the chemo ward. It did pass but the feeling did come and go. I would ask for an explanation as to why if you are really worried.
LA xx
Getting Chemo is scary and you dont really know what to expect. The effects are cumulative. We do get scared if our bodies have strange pains or feelings, at one stage I had a bag packed ready to go to hospital and my gp told me there was nothing wrong. I assume they take your blood pressure before chemo so if there was a change they would tell you. Your red blood count would be going down reaching a low ten days post treatment so that could be a reason but do check it out. I found four and five hard on Carbo taxol but no 6 wasnt too bad because I said to myself well this wont be happening next month because I will be done with it and I think that helped me, You have four down and two to go so two thirds of the way there.
Thanks much Suzuki. I have been offered intravenous hydration if necessary. I'm feeling better today. The anti anxiety meds have helped. Let's see what tomorrow brings.i also appreciate the reminder that there are only two to go I felt like giving up today
Actually, double agent has a harshness of its own xxx
hi, I had six sessions of carboplatin last year and felt dreadful after sessions 4 and 5. I felt very weak and lightheaded and at one point I could hardly lift my arms to hang a towel on the washing line. I became very breathless and struggled to get up the stairs. THis was so out of character for me because I'm always on the go, rushing here and there and I'm rarely Ill. Surprisingly session 6 wasn't as bad apart from a funny turn at work one day when I bent down to get something out of the bottom drawer if the filing cabinet and found myself in a heap on the floor lol. I was really surprised at how quickly I bounced back from chemo and I'm pleased to say that within a month I fell pretty much back to normal. IT is scary, I know I was because It was all so unpredictable but I did it and you will too, take care love Kerry x
Thanks so much doodoolatrice. I'm very happy to know you bounced back quickly. I do believe I will too. When I think about all the possible side effects from chemo I have to say I'm very lucky.
