Looking for experiences relating to sex-drive after removal of ovaries. I am terrified of losing mine!

Hi, I wrote about this on my blog. I was really worried about this, and at first I was really upset because I believed that it'd never be the same again, as I had only been married 3 years when I had my operation, but, it does recover however it wasn't overnight.

I had my ovaries removed during a full hysterectomy & my sex drive after was doing ok until I went on Anastrazole as my 3rd line chemo. I've been on this 8 months now & have no sex drive what so ever. Luckily, my partner, whom I met whilst on 1st line chemo, with no hair, eyelashes or eyebrows doesn't worry too much about this. I on the other hand do as I no longer feel sexy! Cher. X

I worried about this as well but after surgery you won't be able to for a few weeks and emotionally you may not want to for a while longer. However it does come back remember arousal starts in the brain and sex is so much more than penetration. During treatment you may go off sex as well you are just too exhausted to be bothered

Hello there! I had an oophorectomy back in November 2015. I didn't take medication immediately as my doctor told me I should be fine but by January I felt awful . Sex was out of the question because it hurt so much; it literally felt like sandpaper down below and I started to suffer with extreme night sweats and memory loss. I went to the doctor and was prescribed tibolone ( livial) which literally changed my life. As I had had endometriosis I could not have oestrogen . Livial or tibolone is testosterone based. This is also prescribed for those having problems with loss of desire because of the menopause. I don't think my sex life will ever be As amazing as it was but I now have a happy sex life. I have orgasms and it is no longer painful to have sex. I do not suffer from night sweats. I hope that is of some help to you. To those of you suffering in silence , saying that it is just something you must bear, I say please, please see your doctor or preferably a specialist and insist on some help with this. Not all doctors understand but there is no need to suffer like this . There are answers out there . Be brave and try the best for yourself.Xxx
