Chemo cancelled today- miss out entire cycle?

Chemo has been cancelled. Miss out an entire cycle? Is this normal. Surely it would be delayed a week not the whole cycle. Has this happened to anyone else? Lovis x

I missed a whole cycle of Avastin, and one top-up chemo of Gemcitibane this year, and one cycle of carbo-platin was postponed for a week. Did you ask why it was cancelled altogether rather than postponed? What a shame to come back from holiday and have that. You must wish you had stayed another week. xxx

I think you need to chase this up. I was on a three weekly cycle of Carbo/Gem and found that my cycles slipped until one consultant in the MDT team picked up on it and said it was crucial as long as I was well enough to have the Carbo every three weeks.

Suggest you ask for am appointment to see your consultant. I usually get this organised through my CNS nurse, who I tell, that this is what I want.

You do not mention your chemo regime but my bottom line is, if I am concerned about anything I ask to see the consultant. I have only done this once but it did help clear up my confusion and I felt a lot better afterwards.

Hi Lovis, you haven't said why it was cancelled. My WBC count kept falling g below the minimum acceptable level to allow chemo to be administered. On one occasion I went from having the chemo at an 8 week interval as opposed to the usual 3 weeks. Like you I worried as bout the break, but it didn't affect the outcome, at the end of all 6 sessions of chemo the scan showed no sign of any visible disease. Try not to worry. Ann x
