CARDIFF BEING TOGETHER DAY - MONDAY 12 MAY

There's a chance to meet up in Cardiff on Monday 12 May. I've posted up an image of the official flyer, and pasted below the joining details. The event is suitable for women who have experience of ovarian cancer. It's not restricted to women in Wales but open to anyone for whom Cardiff is an accessible location. There is also a Get-Together Day in Swansea on Tuesday 13 May which you can book by contacting Target.

Join us for a fantastic day out for women like you living with or beyond ovarian cancer. You will be able to:

• Meet other women who have or have had ovarian cancer

• Attend a choice of workshops such as relaxation, arts & crafts or learning how to raise awareness

• Hear from leading consultants and nurses and ask any questions you may have

• Enjoy a free event with lunch included

The hotel is located in the city centre just a mile from Cardiff Central mainline station. Onsite parking is provided for an additional charge. Please get in touch if you have any transport needs.

Target Ovarian Cancer is the UK charity dedicated to ensuring a long and good life for all women living with or beyond ovarian cancer. We run supportive events and courses across the country and we are pleased to offer this event in Cardiff.

Our events are free, but booking is essential.

They offer a great opportunity to meet other women living with ovarian cancer and learn more about our charity.

Hello Alice, Do you live near Cardiff? If so there's also a support group that meets once a month.

There used to be a facility on HU which showed members in your area. I'm really sorry that's gone as I found it a great way of making contact with women in my area. In fact that's how we got the support group going in the first place.

Quite a few ladies on this site have been to the Target days and have really enjoyed them.

Dear Whippet, This is similar to the Patient Days that Ovacare organise in Ireland, and also the more informal coffee mornings. I have met some wonderful women, and what is so upsetting that they are so young compared to me. Hope you have a good turnout for the day. Best wishes, Daisies.

Thanks Daisies. I'm going along to our local cancer centre with a display to demonstrate this site as well as publicise the Target Day. Bookings have been slow but let's hope all women with ovarian cancer hear about it and if they want to join in they register. It can be a very lonely disease.

Just an update on last week's Being Together Day in Cardiff. A great turnout of about 30 women and a thoroughly enjoyable day with the opportunity to meet some friends from this forum and new people who have not used an online support forum.

It was followed on the Wednesday by a Patient Focus Group to evaluate cancer services in Wales as a result of the 6-year Cancer Plan 2008. Both events were great networking opportunities and really helpful. There was unanimous feedback from everyone at the focus group that a postcode lottery for drugs and treatment is unacceptable.
