Its the day of my operation and as set out in my letter I got up at 05.45 drank my 2 pre-op drinks at 6 am, had a shower got dressed (NO FOOD OR DRINK ) only a mouthful of water to take my tablet, phoned the hospital at 7am and was told yes I'm on the list. They said they would ring me back with the time I needed to be in. I sat waiting then at 09.00 the phone rang I was all set to go but then was told you need to be here at 2PM.
That was another 5 hours to wait. I was told I can have a drink of water but NO FOOD, I must say I'm annoyed if they had said I was being admitted after midday I could have had some breakfast. I am now starving having last eaten at 6pm yesterday. I don't suppose I will get to eat today as by the time the op is over and I finally come round it will be about 10pm and it will be bedtime. Sitting here watching TV trying to avoid any programs which involve food. My dear husband has decided to put on Top Gear. I don't normally like that program but at least there is not food involved.
Buy for now ladies next time I sign in I will be minus my bits

Hi Babs,
I am sorry that you have all this wait, I can sympathise with you, when I was due to have my operation I had to take bowel emptying medicine the day before , and they rang me at the end of the day to say to stop taking the medicine, so after spending the whole day without food sitting on the loo, I had no idea what was going on, I went in the next day only to be told that my cancer was too advanced and I needed to have the operation in a specialist centre, so then had to wait two weeks after and had further tests e.t.c. I know this isn't the case for you, as you have already had chemo so they know what they are up against.
I hope all goes well for you today and I am thinking of you love x G x
The very best of luck, I hope it all goes well for you , I'm sure it will.
You wonder what planet these people are on, surely they could have been better organised.
When I woke up all I felt was over whelming relief that it was all over and it honestly wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.You do get really good care when you are in and you have looked after yourslf so well, that this is a big head start.
Hi Babs, the waiting game eh! its the worst thing in the world, and the not being able to eat is the next worse thing, but enjoy Top Gear, Jeremy Clarkson will take your mind off things and just think, tomorrow you will weigh a few pounds less. Sorry for making fun of it, but its the way I find it easiest. Good luck for today, big hugs and lots of love coming your way. Ann :-* xx
Dear Babs, Hope you're enjoying Top Gear. My husband loves it too.
My hospital were also a bit disorganised. I assumed I shouldn't eat anything the morning of the op but then they rang the evening before. There I was knife and fork poised - to tell me I shouldn't have eaten after 12 noon THE DAY BEFORE the op. They said I could have a drink to midnight that night so I had a nice big glass of wine.
Hope it all goes well for you later today. We're all thinking of you. xxxx Annie
By now it's all over and you'll be getting better by the hour. I hope you're not feeling too bad. it goes without saying that I hope that the op has sorted out the problem for you. i will look forward to hearing how you're getting on. There's loads of stuff on here about recovering from operations, just trawl through via the search box.
Hope all went well and that you make a good recovery. My appetit didn't come back for weeks after the op so it is a shame you had to go without food beforehand. I was just so pleased to have it over and done with.
By now you will have had your op! I hope that thenursesoffered yousome toast when you came out of the anaesthetic! They were good like that at Jimmies! I hope that you are recovering well from the surgery!

I was told I could have early breakfast I was admitted day before. Then I was told at nine in evening I could not have anything in morning and was too late to get any food as my visitors had gone.
Apparently my brother tells me and everyone else the first thing I said when I came around was can I have something to eat. Unfortunately had to wait till next day.
