Results day today....1.40 pm...getting nervous

I think it's results day today, the surgeon told me he would see me about four weeks after the op, so I was surprised when an appointment letter arrived yesterday for a meeting this afternoon. I telephoned to enquire if this appointment was a post op check or if it was to discuss results but the secretary couldn't or wouldn't give me any further information so my husband has taken the day off work and we are off to see the consultant at 1.40 pm.

I am starting to get nervous now, running through the scenarios and how we are going to feel, whatever the news. You really cannot second guess it and I am sure you have all been in this position with your mind working overtime. I have optimistically put a bottle of champagne in the fridge, hopefully for a celebration later.

I have put some tissues in my handbag, a BIG packet because either way I think I'll cry. Plus remembered not to put mascara on (not a good look when your crying! ha ha).

Will let you know how it goes.

Hi Elaine,

You are right it is impossible to second guess and the not knowing is an awful place to be. I just wanted to send our best wishes along with positive vibes and hopes for a good outcome.

Best of luck today, no guarantee it's bad news, sometimes they just put you in to a cancelled slot. They rarely discuss anything on the phone.

Champagne on ice is a great idea, I had one on Monday.

Good luck fingers crossed.

Regards Barbara.

Thinking of you today. I always try and prepare for the worst whilst hoping for the best, but it's the waiting that's the worst.

Best wishes

As Lynne says, the waiting is the worst. I hope all goes well. Crack the champagne anyway! Cx

Good luck with the appointment Elaine. I realise I'm only just reading this and your appointment is now probably over. I'm hoping and praying you come out feeling positive about everything. Hateful waiting for news. Lynne's tip is a good one.

You will have the news by now Elaine and I hope it is what you wanted to hear. Best wishes.

Hi Elaine Hope the news was what you wanted to hear.

The BEST NEWS for me today...Borderline tumour.

The surgeon confirmed that he successfully removed the suspicious ovary that contained a Borderline tumour made up of low-grade cells that are unlikely to spread. All surrounding tissue Biopsies completely clear. No Chemotherapy needed. I feel blessed.

Needless to say, the Champagne is open and we are starting to relax after months of tension. Initially we felt numb and exhausted, the months of worry and waiting all catching up on us. But the news has sunk in now.

I don't think you can ever put an experience like this to the back of your mind, it will stay with me forever and shape how I live my life going forward (No I am not going to have a mid life crisis, but some changes are in order).

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all the support you have given me over the last few months, the site is SO VALUABLE and sometimes the only place where you can be honest about what is happening and how you feel.

Off to finish that Champagne now :-) Yum Yum.
