edema hands, feet , face on Taxol anyone ?

Hi all

Just finished my last round of chemo (hurray) but this time have experenced really swollen hands,feet and talk about chipmunk cheeks.Has anyone else had ths side effect on chemo?

This may seem like a daft question, but did you have Dexamethasone as part of your chemo, and in tablet form for a few days after? I ask this because while I didn't get obvious swelling(my rings don't fit any more, so there is some increase) and haven't heard of this as a side effect from taxol, I have heard of it in association with Dexamethasone.

Thanks fir your reply- yes i have been on dexamethasone so sounds as though its that rather than the taxol. Im just hoping it goes away soon and hopefully as it was my final round of chemo last week then it will resolve soon ! Im planning to get out for some walks in a week or two so hoping that will help.

Hi Fiona,

After eighteen months in remission after a recurrence and chemo...I still get swollen hands, so I feel it actually is the Taxol (and not the steriod that is given the first few day to fight infection) there are many after effects of chemo and it does affect people in different ways.

The chipmunk cheeks (or moon face) however is the side effects of dexamethasone and will disappear when you have finished chemo.... Best wishes love x G x
