Hi I was diagnosed with Stsge 1c ovarian cancer epithelial serous. My tumor was 11cm uncapcilated. They took out 6 liters of fluid. Scared that this will return. I think about it all the time. How does one live day to day not knowing what’s gonna happen in the future. Is there any long term survivors over 15-20 years. Thankyou. Susan

HiSusan, I’m so sorry you’ve had this awful diagnosis but you’re amongst friends here who know just how you feel and can totally empathise and also offer really good advice and help.
It is difficult coming to terms with the diagnosis but we have to, it’s not easy but in time you will and you’ll arrive at a new ‘normal’.
None of us, regardless of our diagnosis, know what the future holds for us but I truly believe we have to take life by the proverbial spherical objects and run with it and get as much out of it as we can and also put as much in too. No regrets!!
I was diagnosed stage 1c3 clear cell carcinoma of the left ovary in 2014, I had radical surgery followed by 18 rounds of chemotherapy (I took part in a trial), it’s been a sometimes difficult ride but here I am 5 years on. There are ladies who have done this and are 10-15 years on and still living their lives. You don’t say how old you are, it doesn’t make it any easier if you’re a tad on the ancient side like me but I imagine it’s really difficult when the diagnosis is given at a relatively young age.
Speak with your oncologist, nurses and doctors they can give excellent advice, we’ll offer any advice we can too, the administrators here are brilliant and a superb source of professional advice, don’t be afraid to ask any questions even if they seem silly, we’ve all probably asked similar.
Take care, you can do this, big hugs ❤️Xx Jane
None of us know how long we are going to live with or without Ovarian Cancer. But thinking of it every day is just wasting your thoughts. Perhaps you can organise a counsellor to help you get rid of any morbid thoughts. I was diagnosed in 2006 so I am still here had some he cups but so far have managed to come out of them.
Thanku for the response! I pray for continued good health for us both
Hi Susan,
I am sorry to hear of your anxiety as a result of your recent diagnosis. It is normal to feel anxious but each day will hopefully bring you peace and contentment. I was diagnosed with clear cell ovarian cancer stage 1c in May 2003. I had surgery and 6 bouts of Taxol/Carboplatin. I have had no recurrence thank God. I did have colo-rectal cancer in March 2007 which was completely unrelated. I have never looked back. I have annual check ups and three yearly colonoscopy, and always feel a little anxious as I go back. But so far so good.
Hopefully things will work out well for you. I will be thinking of and praying for you.
Gemma
Thanku and bless you for no recurrence of oc since 03. You are an inspiration to me and Thanku. I need positive people around me. So thankful for this site. Do you do anything special as far as any supplements or special diet to keep it at bay? I hope the best for your continued good health! ❤️Susan
Nothing special Susan except I try to eat healthily. I am lucky I like fruit, vegetables and salads. I also try to take some exercise every day - not too strenuous as I had a hip replacement last November. I also try to look on the bright side of life - not too easy for me as I am a worrier by nature, but I know worry gets me nowhere. I wish you continued health and happiness. Gemma
I am on yr 5. Was diagnosed May 2014 as 1C. So there is hope.
