Area of mixed density

Has any other lady afflicted with ovarian cancer and after debulking surgery last August been diagnosed with :

“Area of mixed density (1.6cm/1/2 inch) in upper vaginal vault

Ct radiologist’s report stated this finding and hopes it’s a haematoma or post-operative scarring

Future ct scan for surveillance recommended in 3 months time

Any illumination welcome

Afraid of recurrence

Hi Rachel, if it was Cancer it would show as Cancer. You can ask your Consultant for a second opinion on the ct scan or else a petscan or mri to confirm there is nothing amiss

I thank you Suzuki for having .

I am beside myself with worry over

“Area of mixed density”

because I don’t know what it is.

I don’t have an oncologist doctor or nurse only a gyneoncologist for 3-monthly check-ups in Limerick.

I shall have a CT scan in late February followed by a 3-monthly finding consultation in his rooms in mid-March.

He is referring me to a Neurologist because of shooting pin prick pains in my legs and feet which I can be distracted from by day but play havoc with sleep by night.

I await

Please help me

Gynae told me I didn’t fit criteria for PET scan

I didn’t yet ask for MRI

I was Stage 1A Epithelial Cancer Sub type Endometrioid Sarcoma Ovarian Cancer Grade 1

I wasn’t granted a meeting with Prof Gupta in LK so asked for 2nd opinion

Got a Dr John Coulter in CUH

He answered my questions

Opted so far to stay with my gynae in LK

Any advice suggestions gratefully received

I am grateful but fear & fatigue my 2 big concerns

Hi Rachael, John is good to be honest, he did my surgery and I am here twelve years later. I don't see him now only Oncologist. I had an area which they weren't sure of and pain so I did get a pet scan in April, I know they don't do them lightly. Sometimes I wish there was someone we could go to with our questions. John does have a gynae liason nurse but yes its holiday season and unfortunately you are left with this worry. My petscan did light up in hip muscle and had to get special radiotherapy. My pain hasn't gone so put it to Oncologist that something was wrong when pain didn't go. Eventually had mri a few weeks ago which showed swelling and fluid in my thigh but the MDT were wary and want another petscan. I don't want another pet scan. So it seems we both have different experiences when it comes to petscans, I have had about ten months of pain. That is my own fault, I bore it for a while until I went to gp. So referred to OT to be seen in 2019 for mild lymphodema. I went privately and she referred me for physio assessment. I just wanted answers like you. I have had two physio sessions my hip is out of alignment and we are not sure if its from the hip tumour or aging process so I will keep on for a while. I am just saying its frustrating not knowing the medical terms and what they mean by them. I just took the law into my own hands the past week and was lucky with cancellations. I know I will get into trouble for it, but so be it. Sorry for the long answer but I really do sympathise with you.
