I hope all doing well and busy in festive preparation. My chemo is delayed second time today because last week I had a bit of cold and doctor didn't want to take a chance as my temp was a bit high,37.5.
Today my white blood count was a bit low it was 9 and threshold is 1. I am a bit worried is it ok to delay twice in a row??
Thanks
Regards

Hi Sz I think they like to err on the side of caution I am sure next week it will be okay, Try and rest as much as you can meantime, You may have a sinus infection or something like that, They try to wait to let the white cells come back up themselves. Some hospitals give you an injection but I have never had them just sent away to recover. I read somewhere the other day, beetroot is good to bring up the white cells. I dont know how true it is. Yes it is a busy time of year for us all and we do tend to overdo stuff. I
Hi Shabs, both on first line and second line treatment I had an 8 week gap in treatment due to low wbc count. try not to worry. With regards to the Injection, there are certain protols for getting it. It can also cause back pain. I have never got it. They do prefer it to come back up on its own and it will do. Rest up this week. Ann xx
I'm sure it is a precaution not giving you the chemo. It is of course disappointing for you but I guess sometimes the body needs a bit more recovery time. Maybe an opportunity to do something festive- I am not religious but I really enjoy carol singing so hoping to go to one next week.
Thanks so much for such a supportive response ladies, yes I understand now.Feeling more comfortable!!!!!
Hi Shabs
My chemo has been delayed a few times during this 2nd line - but it didn't affect the treatment as my latest scan showed that cancer around my liver which was there in September has disappeared - so try not worry - and believe that the oncologists are doing their utmost!
