Hi Marn, sorry you are back on the magic roundabout. So far I have no experience of Caelyx but from what I understand its the same as the other drugs, some people might experience more side effects than others. It may not be that bad, I would expect you will get the usual steroids and anti sick or whatever you need to cope with it as best you can. I wish you well and hopefully others will give you better information.

Hi marn. I've just started Caelyx but I'm on a fortnightly dose which I think is a bit unusual - I think monthly is the norm. I was quite nauseous on the first dose but once we got the premeds sorted I've been fine after the 2nd and 3rd dose. Apart from fatigue I'm finding it ok, haven't had the dreaded hand/foot peeling, but I understand that the effects are cumulative - and also that results are often slow to show - or several months. of course we are all very different in how we react and respond to chemo but this is my experience to date.

Hi Marn, I've just started 4 weekly Caelyx. The side effects have been manageable so far, a bit off the first few days, not a lot of energy days 7-10 but doing ok since. One foot a little sore but not too bad. As the others have said, it's different for everyone and the effects are cumulative. This has been my experience in the past.

Hi Marn, I have had 2 caelyx treatments and missed the 3rd as had a rash on arms and back so just had carboplatin last time. Rash has more or less gone, but am told it is quite a rare side effect. More likely to cause sore hands and feet so you have to keep them as cool as possible - my hubby kindly bought me industrial strength oven gloves! Also had nausea for 10 days after treatment - so if this happens ask them to try you with different anti sickness meds. But it doesn't seem to have made me as tired - so far - as taxol with carbo did. oh the joys of chemo!! Good luck with it.

Hi Marn. My mum had Caelyx as 2nd line chemo. During 2014 she went through all the debulking and Carbo/Taxol. Oct 2014 everything great. Jan 2015 recurrence. :-( So, she started 6 Caelyx, four weeks apart. As everyone else has said, everyone reacts differently to chemo. After the third dose her hands were unbearably sore and cracked so she went back to see the onc and he reduced the dose by 20%. The sore hands (and other parts) soon cleared up. She had No 6 Caelyx on 21 July 2015. She had a CT scan which showed that the tumours had stayed put and even shrunk a bit. Her CA125 had gone down from over 300 to 250. So she went onto three months 'watch and wait'. After three months she had a blood test and the CA125 had gone down to 159 so the Caelyx was obviously still working. Three months later she had another blood test and her CA125 had gone up to 202 but the onc wasn't overly concerned. So she's on three months 'watch and wait' again and has been told to go back to onc if she has any symptoms. But she feels well and looks well. She was diagnosed on Christmas Eve 2013, grade 3c, and she has battled on and is so amazing.

Best wishes. Jane X
