Check in.
Hi Kittie. Delighted to see a posting from you, Hope you are doing well. Like yourself, had noticed a lot of new members - a club we would hope women would not have to join. I have to say the support from reading other members treatments & issues, and their warm greetings is great. At least we know we are not on our own.
Hi to daisies and kittie,
Havent started treatment yet, next Tues is D day for Avastin and Gemzar and then I get Gemzar on eight day again. I would hope all goiing well to be finished end Feb. So far during previous treatment my bloods have remained ok . Have gone through, being fed up anger but decided to work until Friday to keep my mind on track. Hair could thin but not fall out. So prob may have to resort to the Ortisan in the next few months for the tummy. Thanks for that tip. Yes we have a few new members and I wish them well. I think this site is great because you get insight into various reactions and great tips to cope. I agree its a site we would all prefer not to be on but we are here for each other and this is very supportive. I know there is an information day coming up here in Dublin but probably wont make it at this stage. But I was at the info day in Cork already this year and that was indeed helpful. Best wishes to all of you reading this blog, hope all is well with Poobah and everyone else is as good as they can be
Hi Suzuki, Just want to wish you the best of luck as you start your treatment you will be in my thoughts and prayers. As you said it is great reading tips from . other women as we can all pick up a tip that might help I have registered for the information day in Dublin as it will be the 1st one I will have attended and the train station is only across the road from the hotel where its been held. Once again good luck and let us know how you are getting on with the new treatment .
Hope you are feeling OK Suzuki! I notice you mentioning information days.....are there any planned for Scotland and what do they generally include? Love to all!
Wendy x
I am not sure about Scotland, but if you try to get on to the ovacare site or there is a Ovacome site in UK they might do information days there. Some times you can ask at your nearest support centre or gynae liason nurse or clinic.
Hi Kittie, yes started on the Avastin and Gem last Tues didnt fare too badly, just queasy for a few days but fine now, of course the horrible constipation is another subject. Sorry only saw your post now, I did post last night alright. My gp when he saw me on Weds gave me maxalon for nausea and wondered why they didnt prescible steroids for the first few days as normal. Well was going to say it to them next Monday as have to repeat Gemzar on 8th day but at the end of the day, if I am to get queasy, it really doesnt matter what day it happens on. Doing ok now, had slight sinus pain but taking paracetamol for that. Got duphlac for constipation but in the end had dulcolax which worked better for me tg. The worst for me was filling out out my illness benefit claim form once more, it really hit home to methen that life was changed once more. Cant complain really got a good break. In meantime one of my neighbours has been diagnosed with agressive pancreatic cancer and this has unsettled me. I suppose this is natural but then that is why you are told in Hospital everyone is different. Am getting reflexology in Arc at the mo and I know that if I need to talk this out there will be somebody there to listen to me. All the best to everyone
