Dental work?

Hi,I've got a Chronic progressive disease that's damaged my pancreas so it can't make enuf pancreas enzymes to digest & metabolize food right. It causes constant pain, I'm on opiod pain meds &am homebound. My oral health was already bad, had to get top partials. But have had bone loss in my jaws, you can see alot below the few crowns I have left. Now reading posts about needing to get dental work done before any osteoporosis phosphate treatments I've done some research into the available treatments but don't remember reading anything about not getting treatment if you need dental work done. If I even have the energy to, would they even work on making new dentures if I continue have bone loss. The few times I go out, I'm embarrassed about my teeth or lack of them& fitting dentures. To old &sick to deal with yet another health issue & now the need of major dental work. More anxiety & depression & researching yet another treatment &side effects, efficacy &on&on.

I needed to stay off Reclast for a year after infusion before I had a tooth pulled in preparation for a dental implant.

I've heard that, but why? What does Reclast or other oral or IV osteoporosis treatments do that makes dental work a big NO? You'd think if it helps your bones, aka, calcium, it would help your teeth, which need the same nutrients to be strong along with dental hygiene. So sounds like I'm screwed,as bad as my bones, jaw bone loss& teeth are. Because in less than 2 years my jaw bone mass is down by a lot, showing my teeth way below the gum line. Does anyone know if you can get cosmetic teeth to fill in lost & extracted ones? Since even if I'd get dentures how long before more bone loss& they don't fit anymore? Ready to screw it all, get a hat with the little crotched lace to cover your face like that worked in the 1930-40s! Along with those gloves that go up to your elbows. Never see those old dressy gloves anymore, tho have at a wedding once. Too old&sick to deal with this.

They told me that the bone in the jaw could possibly die if there is trauma to it and you are on Reclast.

I'm sorry to hear about your situation. It must be So difficult to decide the how's and when's of your health issues. It would be nice if someone in the health care system could steer you in the RIGHT direction. There must be something that could ease your pain, and your mind and soul. I'm always shocked at how little the medical 'experts' do to help you with the root cause, just masking symptoms doesn't help get to the reason for the troubles. Maybe seek out integrative or holistic help, they treat the whole body not just symptoms of the individual problem. Here's hoping you get some relief. Blessings....
