I have consistently described the classic symptoms of silent reflux to my doctor however it has taken till this day to get a diagnosis. It was in conversation with the nurse sharing the results of the endoscope investigation with me that it’s likely i have silent reflux. I have been advised to at least double my pantoprazole from 20 mg to 40 mg for the next six weeks. I’m pleased at last to have it diagnosed as I’ve become so anxious about my throat and larynx. If anyone has any help of advice I’d greatly appreciate. So pleased there are people here I can talk to. I also suffer from PMR and am in the process of tapering my steroids😊

"Silent Reflux" is just a name. In fact, "reflux" generally refers to a complex organic symptomatic.
There is nothing essentially adverse with going from 20mg to 40mg. 40mg is the usual dosage for patients with moderate symptoms. But, along with that, you will have to make some serious decisions about lifestyle changes, e.g. reducing stress and modifying eating habits. There is a potential problem with longterm use of PPI, as already mentioned in a previous thread. Taking calcium and vitamin D supplements should accompany the use of PPIs.
Also it might be worthwhile for you to look into IQoro. It's a simple medical device that can have a very positive structural effect on the oesophagus.
