Good morning I have gerd and get mild nausea almost every morning. It's very frustrating so I am wondering what ideas are out there to prevent that morning nausea?

I am nauseous now every morning too. I take my omeprazole when I wake up and it seems to help slightly. My gerd came on suddenly last year after tons of stress. Did you find any relief?

I feel for you as I know what that morning nausea feels like. I only have it sometimes now......I finished taking the Omeprazole 20 mg once a day in early December. I now keep and use life saver peppermints in my house and they help when I feel off and nausea. I also keep lemon ginger lozenges for nausea. I have Mylanta, tums, and prescription zofran and Bentyl for when I need it. My nausea has become less and I also have GERD so I make sure I eat my last meal by 830 pm the latest. I then just drink ice water and keep ice water by my bed at night . Oh and I keep peppermint tea in the house for tummy stuff..... nausea, etc.

Hope this helps.....I still have flares of IBS and GERD but the above all help me manage it.

Thanks so much! I’ve never tried mylanta. It seems like my once daily omeprazole isn’t working by night time anymore. I’m going to be having an endoscopy and colonoscopy soon. I’m very scared.

Mylanta works for the upset stomach....and All the other natural remedies I mentioned. I had a colonoscopy and endoscopy back in August and biopsies also. The procedures are very quick and you won't remember them.......all my results were normal. So the conclusion was IBS and GERD.....both very inconvenient and unsettling at times but not life or disease threatening and both manageable with mostly lifestyle changes and watching what I eat.So, positive thoughts and try some of the remedies I suggested......I speak from experience and know exactly how you feel. You will get through this😀

Let me know how everything goes.

You are so lucky I gather that you're both American as here in the UK we are awake for endoscopy and colonoscopy! Not a pleasant experience. I find the worst part of this illness is finding something that you can eat and not suffer after. We are going away for the weekend and I've asked the hotel for a gluten free diet as doc said that might help. I'm really tired all the time as well is anyone else the same?

Yes I'm always tired. I find a diet with plenty of vegetables and fish help. Also gaviscon advance helps

Thank you......I have keeping pepcid in the house now that I'm off the Omeprazole.....I no longer eat any. Fried food and lots of fruit too eat. A banana every morning with breakfast.....

It looks as though you are having a good diet. Aren't you able to take omeprazole anymore x

No, I don't have to take it anymore. I had a 90 days script for reducing intestine inflammation....it worked thank God. Now I only get the off and on pain, spasms if I get stressed or eat fatty greasy food. Plus Omeprazole long term is not good for bone health and the kidneys unless of course, you really have to take it. I have symptoms but I'm grateful for the mild version. It's been a long year since last January for me

One day yours may get much better as the condition is so unpredictable. I take B12 and vitamin d also and drink an Activia probiotic daily drink.....I'm thinking about an Align probiotic ....any thoughts?
