I have taken 20 mg of Omeprazole for roughly 20 years due to having a hiatus hernia. More recently , I have had the sensation of a tight chest, with what feels almost like asthma. I do seem to get nauseous and have a background headache which I suspect may be linked to this PPI. Has anyone had similar and were you able to resolve?
Silent reflux?: I have taken 20 mg of... - Acid Reflux Support
Silent reflux?
I have lung damage as the result of acid aspiration. Perhaps consult a lung specialist. Good luck.
Thank you for your reply . Could I ask if you had similar symptoms and what treatment you are receiving. I have been on PPI ' s for 10 years ( not 20), but am thinking of increasing to 40 mg a day.
I had a gastric"crisis". Unable to eat without vomiting. Extreme acid reflux.Extreme breathlessness.I mobility was very limited and I was very unwell for two years. I tried various drugs to no avail. I read Dr.Louise Kaufman's book Acid Reflux Diet. She's a renowned expert.I went on a strict alkaline diet for months. Things eventually settled down. I was about to have lynx surgery to prevent the Reflux. But miraculously I became much better so didn't need it.Although I have some permanent lung damage which will never go.I can now function normally.
I will look at Dr Kaufman's book which sounds quite positive in addressing reflux. I've only had 2 episodes of being sick in the last 18 months, but I do get that feeling frequently.
Sorry to hear about all these ongoing difficulties. I had and still have a hiatus hernia, but during the last six months, I started using IQoro and this has helped greatly in reducing symptoms and reliance on PPIs which I now use only if I have a flare up. I would strongly recommend reading about IQoro and how it can help. Good luck and hope this helps.
