High ALT

hi everyone,

I’ve recently had some blood work done, which have come back with a raised liver function (alt) of 69. The GP has suggested repeating the test in 1 month, but I’m feeling really anxious in the meantime.

I’ve been experiencing an awful metallic taste in my mouth, for the past few months and thought that it was due to the acid reflux.

has anyone experienced this before ?

I really wouldn’t worry about it. The ALT is often raised along with your AST which you don’t mention. People with serious problems of the liver can have their numbers in the hundreds! 69 isn’t high at all. Just a bit out of range. Maybe you had a couple of glasses of wine the night before then didn’t drink enough water the morning of the test. Your doctor is just being thorough wanting to repeat it. That’s a good thing not bad :)
