When my gastritis was a problem, I had aloe Vera juice, manuka honey and Greek yoghurt that all helped.
we’re u taking any medication aswell ? I’m in omeperazole but not working 😞
I took omaprazole, fanticidin and lanzaprazole before having endoscopy and being diagnosed with H Pylori which was then treated with antibiotics. I followed a bland diet with no acids but O K now. Hope you feel better.
did u have to stop meds before endoscopy? I’m only taking one 20mg in a morning so going to have to reduce to 10mg but worried as it’s not better now so might get worse but will need to reduce not just stop as may get rebound acid
No I took them at different times. Lanzaprozole was best for me but also Gaviscon Advance. Nothing really cured it entirely until my diagnosis. Now I don’t take anything just Gaviscon if I overdo it with my digestion.
yes for two weeks.
I’m not 100% sure this has helped or whether I’m just experiencing a ‘coping period’ as I sometimes get a sort of a break for a couple of weeks before it comes back with a vengeance!
Timing or not I’ll share anyway- Kefir each morning before any food to settle microbes in your gut. I tried goat kefir first but it’s quite hard to get where I live on Gold Coast but regular kefir is available in supermarkets now. It’s a yoghurt, I drink about 200ml after 20mg esomeprazole first up. My gastro was all for it but it can cause bloating, I was already hugely bloated so I thought it wouldn’t hurt. I’ve persevered and atm feeling a bit normal, I’ve been having it daily for about 8 weeks now. I’ve tried all the other PPIs with little result. Also take Famotidine 40mg before bed and Gaviscon Extra last thing. Going back to esomeprazole along with a h2 blocker and the kefir is helping, not curing but making life bearable, I couldn’t get through the night whilst on Rabeprazole didn’t help at all. I also take 4x 600mg Magnesium Glycinate as long term PPI use can cause magnesium deficiency and I don’t need anything else on top of this!
As others have said sleep propped up, on your left side, I walk a lot especially after meals, I don’t eat after 6pm, if I can I’ll have my biggest meal of the day at lunchtime so it has longer to digest. Nothing spicy, fatty, acidic- tomatoes etc, onions and garlic have turned against me to!
This thing is a total life changer, keep hoping that one day someone will come up with the reason why so many of us have to endure this and treatment will get better.
No, it’s not that unusual some PPI’s just don’t suit some people, Drs usually happy to go through them to find which one suits you. Also experienced something working for a few months and then it just stops working and symptoms go haywire ??? The answers are few unfortunately.
empathy +++ chin up, try not to worry/stress too much as that alone has a significant effect, easier said than done I know….
I stress way to much & now worry over what’s wrong with my stomache why are omeperazole not working 🤷♀️
