Omeprazole

hi all,

I’ve been taking Omeprazole 20mg for 2 weeks bur doctors suggested upping this to 40mg for a month. Do I double this up and take 2 in the morning? Thanks

Usually it's 20mg in the morning 30min before breakfast and 20mg in the evening 30min before dinner

I’ve been advised to take 20mg in the morning 30 minutes before breakfast and 20mg in the evening 30 minutes before food. I’ve been doing that for years now.

Thank you. It may sound silly, but does it matter how long the space is in between? Due to my job, my evening meal isn’t always at the same time

I was told to up my dosage to 40mg and I also took morning one 30min before breakfast and 30min before evening meal

No I don’t think it matters to much I sometimes take the evening one late with no problems.

Hi Kimbad1990 I some times have to increase the dose & I take 2 in the morning.I recently had gastritis & took 2 for a month.

I’ve heard it’s best to take two together first thing to “hit it hard”. Has this worked for you?

I found it did work for me I only took 2 for a month & have now gone back to 1.

The Gasteritis is also better.

I forgot to mention that I always have a bottle of Gaviscon as a back up.

Can you tell what the pain of your gastritis is like? Sorry I have health anxiety too and it’s driving me insane

The pain I get it is like a burning pain it gets easier after something. to eat then half hour later the burning pain is back.

It can make me feel sick as well.

I feel generally unwell.

When you take omeprazole it's always taken 30 Mins before food because it is then activated by eating. That is the rule whatever time you eat.

Thank you. So doesn’t really matter when I eat dinner as long as I take it 30 mins before. I tried taking 40mg together first thing in the morning and it’s been very harsh on my stomach so I think spacing it out will help, hopefully

definitely take one tablet prior to each meal. Hope you soon feel the benefit
