I was diagnosed with a sliding hiatal hernia via an endoscope procedure a few years back now. Since then, I have had recurring bouts of gastritis and when I saw my doctor they confirmed the hernia was the cause of the gastritis, which I suspected as never had gastritis before the hernia.
Since yesterday, but especially this evening, every time I eat, even if I eat something small and that is not bad for gastritis or a hernia, I get really bad pains in my stomach and also my chest, to the point where it can affect my asthma or my breathing, I feel sick all the time, and constantly suffer with either burps or hiccups. I have taken my omeprazole and also a couple of rennies as thought it was heartburn, but not getting burning in my chest, just bad pain where it feels like my stomach and chest are being restricted. I have also been using the gaviscon advance that my doctor gave me last time and it isn't helping me either.
Does anyone have experience with this? And does anyone have any advice, as my own doctors don't take me seriously on it, it is causing me no end of problems and pain, and I just want to be able to either ease the pain or stop this from reoccuring.
thanks in advance

Hi sorry to hear about your stomach pains. I had the same issues about 10 months ago. I found that changing my diet to exclude items that increase the acidity in my stomach (items such as spicy foods, tomatoes, coffees, vinegar, lemons) along with a Famotidine or Omeprazole twice daily (15 min to 1 hour before lunch and dinner) has reduced the pain and discomfort. When it does come back, then I use Gaviscon Advanced (two spoonfuls after lunch and dinner and two before bed time). Warm herbal teas also help with the stomach pains. I hope that this helps.
Thanks, as I am just hoping I can find some relief somehow, as my doctors don't always listen when I ask about my hernia, and I am waiting for a phone call with an appointment to see a gastronenterologist.
