Does this sound like acid reflux?

I have had symptoms for 10+ years, it completely controls my life and I am hopelessly depressed with it all. All doctors just call it health anxiety.

My symptoms are..

Foul taste in mouth

Shortness of breath

Regurgitation of food

Loose stools

Gas top and bottom

Grumbling

Stomach discomfort

Pain

I have had 2 clear endoscopies, ENT doctor found nothing, bloods are clear etc. It's ruined my life and i already feel like i'm lost a third of my life to this illness. I feel like i'm going to lose the rest of it too. In my mind i am so driven but so held back by how i feel any given day.

So sorry to hear about your health problems. I know digestive issues can really affect your quality of life and cause depression and anxiety. I have had similar problems for about five years but my main problem is burning acid reflux. What medications have you tried?

Ranitidine, PPI, Betaine HCL. lots of other various things I read about online but no help :(

It does to me.Tme.Try reading Dr.Kaufman's Acid Reflux Diet.It will help you make lifestyle changes and also inform you aboug what meds to ask for.Good luck.

Tried so many diets. Most recent one was Low FODMAP which didn't do much and was really hard to stick to. I'm sure I did Kaufmans 8 or 9 years ago but will maybe try again.

Dentist just told me to stop eating acidic foods even though I don't. I've gargled salt water, mouthwash, all kinds of things and nothing clears it. Taste is there even during cleaning my teeth and afterwards. It's like it's in my saliva.

Hello, I agree that it sounds like reflux. I agree with Jumpey that diet change would probably have the greatest impact. Maybe try Dr Jonathan Aviv’s Acid Watcher Diet - it follows the same principles as Dr Kaufman’s but with a number of small differences (& there are Facebook groups you can join with lots of support & ideas). Good luck!

I know its hard, I have had same issues as you. The nhs in the uk is in turmoil and its very diffucult to even see a dr let alone a referal. I have had blood tests various and chest x ray all satisfactory. I need help I have been to dentist all ok I have made diet and lifestyle changes been on PPI medication but still have acid in my mouth all the time. I have lost my appetite and do not enjoy food now. It certainly wrecks your life. I dont know what the solution is had anyone got over this?
