Hi there - I may be on the wrong forum as I don’t really have acid reflux as such - more just a sort of gastritis-type pain/burning/ heavy bloated feeling in the stomach. Anyway, my question is this, does anyone know if dissolvable medication causes gastritis? I take dispersible analgesia regularly but would would change to the tablets if I thought it would help ease my symptoms. Many thanks,

Dispersible irritation?
Hello, I know that painkillers can cause Gastritis and acid reflux if taken regularly for long periods. I believe Paracetomol is better than Ibubrofen/Nurofen medication. I have had two endoscopies and both times was asked if I take regular painkillers, as I have Gastritis/Reflux and Hiatus hernia. It may be worth asking you GP for a different type of painkiller, or trying an H2 blocker instead of a strong PPI medication. My doctor prescibes Famotidine for me, which I take 20mg twice a day. Good luck.
Hi - and thank you for getting back to me so quickly! Yes, I believe that non- steroidal anti-inflammatories such as Ibuprofen can be bad for our guts but it is just paracetamol I use. I prefer the dispersible paracetamol though because it works faster, however I’m starting to wonder if there is something about the dispersible version (as opposed to tablets) which is aggravating my stomach. Just wondered if there was any research out there to support my thoughts, or if anyone has had same experience….?
