Hi all, I was diagnosed with heartburn in November after going to a&e thinking I was having a heart attack, Dr prescribed lansoprazole but it’s not helped at all, if anything it is getting worse. Don’t get much burning just horrendous pain at the top of my ribs and in my back just below shoulder blades. I’m struggling to believe I’ve just developed this out of nowhere and I’m questioning wether it’s man made so to speak. May be a coincidence but about a week before I went to a&e I was prescribed vitamin d supplements after a routine thyroid review picked up low levels and I’m taking 1000ui a day. It would be interesting to know wether anybody else has had this side effect from taking vitamins or if I’m just clutching at straws, the pain is getting unbearable but it’s so random - I can eat curry and get nothing but a small bowl of porridge or even a banana has me in agony for hours! it’s getting to where I try and eat as little as possible! Any advice greatly appreciated!

A lot of people on this forum complain about lansoprazole. I’ve never taken it because it’s only available in capsules with sugar fillers. Ask your GP if u can try omeprazole Tablets- lactose only.
With most meds I always taken a small dose and build if needed.
When u went to AE did they arrange gastric endoscopy to find out how much damage may have been going on before this episode?
Cut out all foods that make it worse. Spices, peppers are big no’s.
Reduce food intake to only small plain meals.
No alcohol, nothing too fizzy or yeasty.
I’m sure others will say the same.
With effort u can improve the situation if it’s just happened.
Do u have an Haitus Hernia-did they check? Do u do any strenuous exercise that could have caused 1 to develop?
Are u over weight? Important to slim down.
There are several Vit Ds on market. I personally use Solgar. Avoid it with Vit C but make sure u take a Vit C with it that’s not too acidic.
