Is it sensible to get pregnant with a hiatus hernia?

Hi, I'm new here. After 3 months of reflux and weight loss I finally had an endoscopy yesterday and they found a 3cm hiatus hernia. After the procedure they sent me home with a leaflet but now I have so many questions and nobody to ask. I was referred by my GP so don't have a gastroenterologist. I tried asking my GP today but they didn't know anything. I feel very lost.

My biggest worry is that my partner and I were trying to conceive and now I don't know if that's a good idea. Could pregnancy make it worse for the rest of my life? Could it do permanent damage?

I know that lots of women develop a hiatus hernia in pregnancy but does anyone have any experience of getting pregnant when they already had a hiatus hernia?

Thanks!
