Hi guys.
I said I would keep you updated with things, well here goes.
Firstly we went on holiday to Cyprus and for the first 3 days I was quite unwell with diarrhoea, I increased the intake of Loperamide and Creon, still no luck. We eventually put it down to the virgin pina colada’s I had, so stopped having them, things were slightly better . But still had to double up on medication to function.
when I got home I had a phone call on the Wednesday morning with a colonoscopy booked for the following monday. Along with a Endoscopic dialatation on the Wednesday.
Did all the prep on the weekend for the colonoscopy, although didn’t need much as I ended up with severe diarrhoea again on the Saturday. So by the time I had to do the prep not much was left !
Fast forward to the monday……. My Bi Polar had kicked in big time and I could t stop crying, our hospital aren’t really that sympathetic and I was left on my own to get on with it,
The procedure itself was uncomfortable to say the least, the Dr said he couldn’t give me too much sedation even though I couldn’t be “ topped up “ with gas and air because of my partial lung collapse. I had to scream at him twice to stop the procedure as I couldn’t stand the pain. In the end I had one nurse pushing on my stomach to squeeze my bowel down as to be able to get the scope through.
I have a thickening of the bowel, which they have taken biopsies from, also 4 more biopsies from other areas, awaiting results from them. But, what did shock me a bit was another, more experienced doctor was asked to come in to take a look and he has confirmed that I have Colitis spots! One thing I was hoping I didn’t have. Obviously I will have to wait for the results of everything to see exactly what is going on. I am still having problems keeping food in, but not quite as bad now.
Then on the Wednesday of the same week, I had a endoscopy with tummy dialation. So glad they do that under general anaesthetic. All went well with that apart from the anaesthetist was a bit rough and I haven’t been able to eat since as I can’t swallow, it also feels like there is a little “ flap “ at the back of my throat, especially when I cough, there seems to be a lot of phlegm too. Has anyone ever experienced this after an endoscopy ?
Well, that’s where I am at for now. Very grateful that nothing nasty seems to have been found. Although, never count my chickens until their all in !
thanks for reading guys. Any feed back extremely welcome.
June.
