GP no help, ongoing symptoms

the 2nd of August I have had the same symptoms. I injured my back and had a pain under my right shoulder blade, at the same time I also had pain swallowing large amounts of food.

After about a week botb symptoms stopped but I've been left with the feeling of a lump in my throat on one side of my throat and occasionally a tight feeling at the bottom of my throat. Along with a slight niggling pain under my shoulder when I exercise.

I've been to Dr 5 times (before this I'd never been to my Drs as an adult, I'm fit and well, not over weight and exercise regularly) I've also never had acid reflux.

Dr didn't think the symptoms were linked and prescribed me omeprazole and gaviscon.

This hasn't done anything for my symptoms, i then got refered to ENT who put a camera down my nose and have a 5min "consultation" said that my throat was fine and to keep taking it.

My Dr's don't want to take it any further until I've taken omeprazole for 2 months twice a day.

I have no chnage in symptoms after stopping drinking, eating spicey food and following the acid reflux advice.

I'm at a loss at what to do, does anyone think this is acid reflux or could i have injured my shoulder that's causing some nerve issues in my throat?

To be honest, from your description, it could be LPR (silent reflux), or it could be an injury, a bacterial infection or a virus. If they think it's reflux, then I'm a little surprised they referred you to ENT rather than gastro-enterology, but perhaps they just wanted to rule out throat cancer. All I can suggest is that you follow your GP's advice and continue taking the omeprazole and, if your symptoms haven't improved, go back to see your GP in a couple of months.

no if the GP believed that you have 2 sets of symptoms I would believe him. Your ent procedure was ok so I’d stop worrying about that. Continue with what you are doing drug and food wise. Make sure you have 3 pillows and don’t eat late at night. If you still have pain only take paracetamol as other drugs could irritate. Give it another month or so and if you are no better go back. Also cut down on your fatty food. Good luck.
