I can't shake my Instrusive thoughts, I'm scared that they are me and not just OCD/anxiety driven.

I can't quit obsessing over my Instrusive thoughts, im so scared they are actually who I am and not OCD/anxiety driven thoughts. Anyone else like this?

I feel the same way. I genuinely am convinced that if I do/don't do certain things, bad events will occur. And when bad things do happen, I push the blame straight onto myself. OCD is an illness just like every other one, and it never will define you! No matter how big of a part it plays in your life, it doesn't make you who you are. You're so strong beautiful xx

That's the nature of OCD. It is a lying, manipulative bully. It makes out that it is our friend, but it is the sort of toxic friend who demands more and more from you, and the more you give in, the more it demands. Nobody needs a friend like that!

Everyone has weird thoughts. For most people, these weird thoughts barely impinge on their consciousness. They just float into one's mind and then float out again, and most people take no notice of them.

For those of us who have OCD, however, we try to give these thoughts meaning when they really don't mean anything. And then we hold onto them, question them, and demand to know what they are doing in our head. And as soon as we tell them to leave and try to throw them out, they bounce back in our head, saying 'I'm here!'

I've had OCD for many years, and I know just how you feel. But there is so much more to you than OCD. Intrusive thoughts are not what you are.
