Hi everyone!

I would like to ask everybody what kind of OCD do you have apart from cleaning etc.. does anyone circular names in their head in a loop all day? and if so can you share what you think please.

Plus what do you take for your mental well being? any supplements? and would you say they have worked or are working for you and you have noticed a difference?!

Thanks

x

I do and redo things until they feel 'right'. It includes walking, whether along the pavement or outside, or indoors, where I feel I have to retrace my steps until it feels as though I've done it 'right'. This is very embarrassing! It is worse when I'm crossing roads, as you really should get across the road in one, and I've often crossed and recrossed the road until I'm exhausted. Roads and doorways are particularly difficult.

I have all sorts of little things that I do a particular way. I too have loops of words going round in my head.

Apart from my usual medication of sertraline and ariprazole I don't take any supplements apart from vitamin D, but I have tried them previously. I heard that rhodiola rosea could help and took that for a while. I can't say I noticed a significant improvement, and stopped taking it mainly because of the expense. It has been promoted as something without side effects or interactions with other medications, but apparently this is not the case.

For me, OCD affects just about everything I do. It's constantly monitoring me and telling me what I should and shouldn't do, and how I should do it.

I try to keep busy without overdoing it. I've found that writing is a help! I'm interested to hear about other people's experiences and what helps them!

Ah interesting. I haven't heard of that herbal remedy, but with my experience taking the St Johns Wort I think I am steering clear of herbal remedies for now. Apparently I couldn't even have a facial the other day which is described as a "acid peel" because the remedy is still in my system and it lasts for up to 6 months. And performing these peels on my skin would damage it and make it very sore. I believe also I did have serotonin syndrome a while back when taking the st johns wort.

I am now taking Iron fizzy tablets that I drop in a glass of water and after I drink the fizzy orange flavoured water I feel heaps better! and I take a all vitmit spray I purchased these both from Holland & Barratt

I tried taking St John's Wort for a while, but felt really funny on it! It certainly didn't help my OCD symptoms. I had to stop taking them and go back to clomipramine when it was out of my system, then I was put on sertraline. I didn't know it could stay in your system for that long.

The iron tablets sound nice! Maybe I should give them a go. I keep meaning to go back to doing Pilates, which I found therapeutic. It doesn't feel like you're exerting yourself while you do it, but afterwards you feel really good.
