It's a difficult one, this. Some medicines are not considered safe to prescribe for children, and in any case parents often feel unsure about filling their kids up with pills. Medication can help hugely with OCD, but I can understand if you are reluctant to allow her to be given meds long term. Make sure you discuss it with her psychiatrist, don't be afraid to ask questions about alternatives, side effects or anything else that is bothering you. Get in touch with your daughter's team if you think there is anything wrong, or she appears to be worse on the meds. Include her in the discussions as far as possible. But remember that meds can be helpful and may make her much better.
I'm sorry I haven't any expert opinions on this. All I can suggest is that you ask as many questions as you want, don't imagine you are being a nuisance if you have concerns, keep a careful watch on your daughter's condition (I'm sure that you will anyway) and report anything you are concerned about.
Hi my name is Danielle,
I've been suffering from OCD since a young age and i was diagnosed at the age of 12 years old the doctor also advised my mam of medication but she refused it as it was such a young age to be on the medication so the doctor referred me to a child and adultsent mental health centre I attended there for 6years. they helped me an the only way I can explain is gave me my childhood back and making my life feel worth living again the techniques they gave to control my OCD was amazing and still help me to this day
I hope this helps you if you need to talk mail me x
