I just wanted to check in. I like the community here and the ability to share my day without judgement. I'm finding some motivation to improve myself and here's to hoping that I can hold on to that for a while. I drove for 3 hours today by myself and didn't have a negative thought the entire time. I am making concious decisions to bring back a little more control and stability, and I'm feeling ok for the first time in a while. Well wishes to everyone.

Hi Alf, good to hear you're doing so well. I was concerned by your last post. When people hit rock bottom they only have two options, do or die. I am relieved to see your post. So, as I have stated before, the only way to go is up.
That means your ready, ready to get well. Don't expect everything to happen at once. Take one step at a time. Don't overload yourself with things you should or should' t do. You need for things in your journey to get well.
1, a supportive doctor; 2, the right meds; 3,psychotherapy and cut and 4, a group of people, or friend whom you trust, a safe place to go when you'er having a bad day. In my opinion these are essential because it helped me.
I have friends I can call on when I'm feeling low or having a bad day. There are also things you can do to help yourself, like practising mindfulness, breathing slowly, taking up new interests, watching tv, movies you like. It's about filling your mind and life with new experiences; to start thinking differently.
Trying to get better is like trying to lose weight and get fit. You have to make changes to your lifestyle and start exercising. At first it's difficult and everything hurts when you start exercising but that's just your body adjusting to the change. Keep on going and you'll start noticing the changes. A friend said, it takes 2-3 months to break a habit, but this is ocd we're talking about.
You can't do this on your own you need the 4 things in above in place to help you fight this. The psychotherapy for your background and cut to help you deal with OCD.
thats great to hear i find when a think of a bad thought i distract myself by doing something else even if im only delaying the bad thought by 1 minute its an improvement and showing ocd whos in control one step at a time xx
