I have to challenge that Danielle. I once thought that, and settled for being 60% better, but the OCD soon took more of me was 80% consuming me again.

If you try and manage the OCD it will consume you, you have to challenge it.

If a doctor or therapist ever tells us we have to live with OCD, sack them, get a new therapist.

We don't have to live with OCD, with the right support and right therapist it can be challenged and it can be beat.

OCD will never be 100% gone there is no proper cure for it, therefore we learn to manage/control to live with it. As we will always have it 😊

I have a friend who went to full time care and came home completely free.

My own experience is that it comes and goes but Meds and for some therapy also helps

But I do believe we can still do things if we make the effort and if we are prepared to take time out to recover

So now rather than rushing around trying to do everything I just pick and choose so I can pace myself.

I still have good and bad days I still have to accept that some will never know what my reality is but to look after me I have to put my foot down and take the easy route.

So if you are in the grips of it shout for help and keep shouting.

If you are a little better enjoy the lull and sometimes you can test your limits try to do this in a safe environment

Keep on learning and share the experience if you can

Don't let it become your master

All the best

K

When your diagnosed with OCD it is a mental illness. The only cure is to fight it, medication, professional help, there is no cure to make it go away for good it is about managing and controlling it. Yes It is always there it never goes. We have control over the OCD that's when we think it's gone. The littlest thing can trigger it off like been stressed, anxious or nervous. Then we think we have it back when the OCD gets the better of us it's all about fighting it, challenging it day by day, are good days, are bad days. I've never heard of anyone been able to cure it completely. x

Hi, I find that fighting my OCD/intrusive thoughts actually makes things worse, triggering more intrusive thoughts. Acceptance seems to be the only way for me, I can't get rid of the thoughts or stop having them just accept them for what they are and then try and focus on something that is important to me. It's hard work trying not to submit and get caught in the OCD cycle.
